Inner Wild Nutrition

Inner Wild Nutrition Welcome to Inner Wild Nutrition! My name is Uriell and I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and I help cyclists, runners, and skiers know what to eat.

Uriell is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and owner of Whole Life Breck. She studied at Bastyr University in Seattle and then completed her dietetic internship with Utah State University during which she worked in a variety of clinical, community and food service nutrition settings throughout Colorado. Uriell’s passion for nutrition began while growing up on her family’s organic farm in Vermon

t. Upon moving to Breckenridge in 2007 she found that nutrition and questions regarding food and health were a common topic of conversation among friends and fellow athletes and she wanted to find a way to be able to answer those questions. Today, Uriell’s nutrition practice focuses on incorporating whole foods nutrition with sustainable goals that will help you achieve whole body health and wellness for a lifetime. Specialties include weight loss, sports and performance nutrition and chronic disease prevention or management. Uriell’s favorite part of her job is that her “work” is as much a part of her personal life as it is her professional life. Beyond Whole Life Breck, she can be found working at Whole Foods in Frisco, experimenting with new recipes in her kitchen, or outside either trail running, split boarding or training for her upcoming mountain bike race season. Uriell welcomes all ages and is open to discuss any nutritional interests you may have.

When a gel just won’t cut it, or when you have to rely on resupply to get more carbs in - these 3 options will do the job!

If you deal with reflux, bloating, or just don’t feel great after eating — this one’s for you.

🌿 The truth is, so many of these symptoms can be linked back to how well you support your body’s natural ability to digest food.

✨And sometimes the fix is simpler than you think — think chewing your food properly, getting enough fiber, and staying hydrated throughout the day.

Craving sugar isn’t a bad habit - it’s a sign from your body that you’re missing something

So, when my clients tell me things like:
“I’m addicted to sugar”
“I can’t stop eating carbs”
“I’m binging on carbs at night”
“I can’t have it or I’ll eat it all”
…we have to get down to the root cause and figure out what’s wrong in the first place. Once we make sure you’re getting the carbs you need, in the right amounts, at the right times, these “cravings” often dissipate & you become the one that’s in control 👏

🍭When your body is low on carbs, it often asks for sugar.

🤔So if the cravings won’t quit, it’s worth asking: am I eating enough carbs before, during, and after my efforts?

Remember, the closer you get to your workout, the more you want to simplify your food. The most simple you can go is simple carbs 👉👉

Here’s some more details, plus options:

🥞if you have 0-30 minutes before exercise, aim for 15-30g of carbs (fruit juice, sports drink, waffle with syrup)

🥯If you have 30-60 minutes before exercise, aim for 30-45g of carbs, plus 5g protein with minimal fat (1/2 bagel with cream cheese, cereal with milk, PB pretzels)

You can’t out-train poor fueling forever.

✨ The athletes who see the biggest shifts aren’t the ones who overhaul everything overnight. They’re the ones who build awareness and make small, intentional changes that stick.

Waiting too long between meals means that, when you do finally eat, you’re much more likely to over eat. It also means that your body doesn’t trust it’s going to get what it needs when it needs it - if you struggle with weight gain, despite “eating good foods”, this is often a factor

So, go make sure you actually have those easy snacks available! Aim for a combo of protein & carbs. What are your staples? You know mine 😏
