Make Brent the Great know that his legacy lives on. Please see the first post for our mission! The days between Brent's birth date of October 7, and the date of his passing, December 30, can be challenging for those folks that loved Brent. I am trying to turn these 84 days into something that Brent would be proud of and something that can be uplifting for those of us that loved Brent. For 10 years people from near and far have done amazing things to support the RamerNation. It seems selfish to ask for anything more. But I am not asking you to support the RamerNation, I am asking you to go out and Do Something Great! I am asking that you go out and do something to make the world a better place. I would thank you. And everyone that loved Brent would thank you. A very brief list of ideas to make the world a better place might be:
Donate blood
Donate platelets
Donate pull tabs to Ronald McDonald House
Cook some food for a soup kitchen
Volunteer time to mentor underprivileged youths
Mow your elderly neighbor's lawn
Snowblow your shut-in neighbor's driveway
Volunteer at your city's kennel
Volunteer at a battered women's shelter
Take dinner to that elderly neighbor that you have never met
Place books in that free library box that you pass on the way to work
Donate clothes to AmVets
Donate unused furniture to Purple Heart
Donate blankets or socks to a homeless shelter
Call your mom
Call your grandma
Call all of your family members just because
Surprise someone you don't even know with buying their lunch
Surprise your family by taking them to a drive in theater
Surprise your church with an unexpected donation
Surprise a local charity with an offer of time or services
Help your neighbor fix their house
Help someone thousands of miles away fix their house after a natural disaster
Volunteer at Habitat for Humanity and build someone's house that will never pay you back
Some people have time
Some people have money
Some people are great cooks
Some people can sew
Some people can build
Some people can get a broken car running
Some people can get a broken person running
Everyone has something that they can give to make the world a better place. Let me know if you need ideas! Doing any of this will make me happy. Doing any of this will certainly make Brent happy as well as all of us that love him. But I am going to go as forward as to ask that you post your Do Something Great acts here. I would like to create a wave of good faith in Brent's name that continues through the new year. Postings, and particularly photos, with what you are doing to Do Something Great would be awesome! Dan Ramer (Brent's dad)
