Do you need some good reasons to start massaging your little one?

Here are a few to consider!

Embedding massaging your baby into a routine, like after a diaper change, first thing in the morning or before bed time, will create a wonderful bonding time.

This is time invested well!
Plus it doesn’t have to be long. A few mindful and focused minutes massaging your little one go along way.

I often get asked: when is the right time to start massaging my little one?

I normally recommend, if there are no medical concerns, to start at about 6 weeks old. This is when your little ones nervous system is already a little used to the outer world and you yourself might feel a little more confident.

Use some instructions and routines and keep the massage time and place about the same. This helps baby to understand a pattern and settle in.

Always observe your little ones reactions to the massage. This is a wonderful way to improve communication and connection.
The more you observe your baby the better you see your baby's little cues.

My 7yo still loves a foot massage or back rub before bed. This is still a wonderful way for us to connect and release tension.
AND at her age she sometimes give a massage back.

So I hope this motivates you to start massaging your little one.
It has so many benefits.

It has been a while since I introduced myself!

Today I wanted to take the chance to say "hello"

I just gave birth to my 3rd daughter and I am taking some slow time over the summer to recover.

Sunday = Funday!

If you are having an easy morning and a picky eater at home try this simple recipe!

Hopefully these are ingredients your little one already likes!

Let them participate and have fun mixing and putting everything together!

If there is no pressure your little one might even try the end result!

Talk about the different consistency of the ingredients and how it changes after backing from being liquid to being sponge like!
Let it sound like magic!
Decorate with their favorite fruits! So yummy!

I hope you enjoy it as much as we did in our family this morning!

This is a reminder to fill your own cup!

What makes you happy, parents?

Practicing self-care leads to better self-regulation which leads to better co-regulation with your chil(ren)!

Use the holiday and do one thing today that makes you happy! This can be something "small" like drinking a coffee in little sips, taking a bath or doing some deep breathing exercises!

Touch is the first sense developing in the womb
And
When baby is born physical contact with the caregivers has a well established grounding in attachment research
And
The more parents are in close physical contact with their infants the faster they can learn to read their babies cues

What I am trying to say:
Touch is a very important aspect especially in the first year of a child's life and beyond.

Since little ones LOVE routines and rituals learning a structure how to massage can become a wonderful way to integrate more touch into everyday life.

Maybe for you this thought of a "perfect mother" and the one right way to do things is coming up as well sometimes....

This is a reminder that we all have our unique wonderful ways to be a mother, to mother and to balance our other roles with also being a mother.

May you celebrate your unique style of being the best mother for your children - even beyond mothers day!

You are amazing!

And yes, there is always space to adapt and change your ways....life is change.
