SMARTCore is a fitness method designed to help stimulate the nervous system in order to change the way muscles and bones align and move. Benefits of SMARTCore include include better posture, improved energy, better sleep, and a more positive attitude. In addition, SMARTCore helps to develop a fit, capable body that allows you to live the way you choose. Utilizing key elements of Pilates such as breathing, centering, concentration, control and precision, SMARTCore also integrates principles from other somatic movement methods. Addressing the mind-body connection scientifically, is what makes SMARTCore different from traditional fitness models. SMARTCore is ideal for a variety of ages, lifestyles, and fitness levels, with the most common denominator being a search for a program that will challenge the body while building it up and preventing injury. The individualized approach of SMARTCore carries through into group classes, giving instructors the opportunity to work closely with each individual. In doing so, they are able to cater to people with past injuries, people that sit or stand all day for work, women that haven’t focused on their bodies since before having children, and high-level athletes looking to improve their performance. Our Classes
Truth is, there is a huge difference between someone giving a class, and someone teaching a class, which is why SMARTCore only allows 10 people per session – giving our highly trained instructors the chance to focus on your individual workout. Whether in a group class or in a private session, our instructors are trained to systematically bring bodies into better function, regardless of how they walk in the door. SMARTCore classes and private sessions are offered Monday through Saturday, with morning, afternoon, and evening sessions available. All classes are listed and available to sign up for at smartcoremethod.com. Other services offered at SMARTCore Method are Structural Integration, Reflexology, Integrative Bodywork, Pre-Natal Massage, Meditation Class, and Classical Pilates

Ankle mobility and organization with the entire leg, pelvis, and back. DO NOT TRY TO IMITATE MY RANGE! You will hurt yourself trying to force your joints into places I have spent 57 years working on. This work is only effective if you listen and honor what your body is telling you. Joint pain means something, so only go as far as comfort allows. It’s ok if you feel a little stretching in weird places. Just don’t be enticed to stay in those stretches or to think because you feel that stretch, it will be good for you to stay there. It won’t. Each joint must contribute and distribute its appropriate share of the motion. Too much in one place is always bad. Make it small, make it successful, make sure weight is shifting not just one part, sense the lines of fascia, work slowly toward building healthy functional relationships between your parts as they relate and respond to gravity. Movement CAPABILITY is the key to both longevity and performance.

For this year’s birthday skill (57), I took on the one armed handstand. MUCH HARDER than it looks lol and took me a while to build both the shoulder strength and the ability to lengthen through my rib cage to connect through my structure. Yes I am leaning against a wall, but feeling that my transition to not using the wall, will be a lot easier than what it took to simply do the skill!
