National Older Workers Employment Week | March 8–14

At Loving Home Care, we proudly celebrate the value that older adults bring to the workforce and to our communities every single day.

Many of our caregivers are active older adults themselves, and we deeply value the experience, patience, wisdom, and compassion they bring to the families we serve. There is something truly special about the connection that happens when younger seniors care for older seniors. It creates understanding, laughter, shared stories, and a level of comfort that only life experience can bring.

We love providing opportunities for older adults who want to remain active, purposeful, and engaged through meaningful work. Their knowledge, dedication, and heart for helping others make a powerful difference in the lives of those we care for.

Experience matters, wisdom matters, and at Loving Home Care, our older workers make all the difference.

If you are an older adult who would enjoy making a difference in someone’s life, we would love to have you join our team.

Jo’s Place Supportive Living is now open.

Jo’s Place is named in honor of the owner’s mother, Patricia Jo, a nurse whose life was rooted in caring for others. She had a special heart for people who were vulnerable — those facing physical or mental health challenges, and those simply going through difficult seasons in life.

Her daughter, the owner, witnessed this compassion firsthand growing up. She saw how her mother would help the neighbor next door, welcome someone who had been put out of their home, comfort those who were at odds with their families, and uplift people who were carrying heavy burdens on their shoulders. To many, she was a safe presence needed when the road was rocky.

As a nurse, Patricia Jo cared for her patients. But her compassion did not stop at the hospital or nursing home. Caring for others was simply who she was.

Jo’s Place was created to carry that spirit forward, offering a safe, structured, and supportive living environment for adults who benefit from stability, encouragement, and community.

At Jo’s Place, the goal is simple: to provide a place where people feel respected, supported, and at home.

Because it’s easier when you’re not doing it alone.

If you know someone who may benefit from a stable, supportive living environment, please feel free to share this post or reach out.

March is National Nutrition Month

At Loving Home Care, we know that good nutrition is more than just food on a plate. It is energy, strength, healing, and independence.

As we age, our bodies need
✔️ More protein to maintain muscle
✔️ Proper hydration to prevent confusion and fatigue
✔️ Balanced meals to support heart and brain health
✔️ Consistent, nourishing routines

Sometimes what looks like weakness, mood changes, or even memory issues can simply be dehydration or poor nutrition.

Small changes make a big difference
🥗 Add protein to every meal
🥛 Drink water throughout the day
🍓 Include colorful fruits and vegetables
🍳 Keep meals simple, balanced, and consistent

Our caregivers assist with meal preparation, grocery support, and encouraging healthy choices because staying nourished helps our clients remain strong and independent.

If your loved one needs a little extra help at home, call today to schedule a FREE assessment.

💜 Wednesday Wisdom

Caregiving isn’t about doing everything perfectly.
It’s about showing up consistently.

Some days that looks like:
• Organizing medications
• Driving to appointments
• Repeating the same story like it’s brand new
• Sitting quietly and just being present

Here’s today’s wisdom:

✨ Independence doesn’t mean doing everything alone.
✨ Support preserves dignity.
✨ A calm voice can change the whole day.

And let’s be honest…

If Dad says he doesn’t need help,
but calls because the TV “stopped working” —
and it’s just on the wrong input 😅

That’s not weakness.
That’s partnership.

Families deserve support too.
You don’t have to carry it all by yourself.

🌿 Care Tip: It’s Not Always Memory

Sometimes what looks like confusion or withdrawal is actually hearing or vision changes.

If your loved one:

Seems confused during conversations

Withdraws from family gatherings

Answers questions “incorrectly”

Appears forgetful or disoriented

Stops engaging in favorite activities

It may not be dementia.

When someone can’t hear clearly, words get mixed up.
When someone can’t see clearly, faces, medications, or instructions become hard to recognize.

That can look like memory loss.

Before assuming cognitive decline, schedule:
✔️ A hearing test
✔️ A vision exam

Something as simple as new glasses or hearing aids can dramatically improve:

* Confidence

* Safety

* Social engagement

* Overall mood

* Small checks can make a big difference.

If you’re unsure where to start, we’re here to help guide you.

Our Story

Loving Home Care is a small family service dedicated to helping seniors receive quality, safe, affordable care all in the comfort of home.

At Loving Home Care we desire a personal relationship with our clients. As an administrator, I personally perform routine calls and visits to ensure that Loving Home Care is meeting the needs of our clients.

Our mission is to provide the highest quality of home care that is trustworthy, safe, and affordable. We treat your loved ones like family, with the dignity, respect, and consideration they deserve as if we are caring for our own loved ones.

Loving Home Care developed out of a desire to help others. While growing up, my mother who was a nurse would occasionally take me to visit her elderly patients in the nursing home. Many had few visits because their families were busy or lived away. These visits with my mom are memories that have remained with me.
