This award recognizes lawmakers who prioritize policy issues that contribute to the health and wellness of all Tennesseans through their support for hospitals. Rep. Hicks was presented with the 2025 award at Hawkins County Community Hospital, with hospital and THA leadership in attendance.

Congratulations to the Ballad Health employees at Unicoi County Hospital, winners of the 2025 THA President’s Award!

These employees are honored for their extraordinary response during the unprecedented storms in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. In the face of rising floodwaters and the difficult task of evacuating the hospital, these caregivers showed remarkable courage and resilience, continuing to provide compassionate care to patients under the most challenging circumstances. Their actions reflect the highest ideals of Tennessee’s hospitals and an unwavering commitment to serve their communities.

Prisma Health-Blount Memorial Hospital celebrated two nursing staff members, Sydnie Wilburn, RN and Shauna Galyon, LPN, for completing the 12-month THA Nurse Residency Program. THA congratulates Sydnie and Shauna on this exciting milestone!

The THA Nurse Residency Program in collaboration with Vizient, Inc. provides professional role development and education for new graduate nurses.

Last week we joined Lincoln Health in celebrating the inaugural cohort of nurses in the Level Up Lincoln apprenticeship program! Lincoln Health, a member of Huntsville Hospital Health System, is now the second hospital in the state to develop and implement the THA LPN Pre-licensure Apprenticeship Program. Lincoln Health will introduce its apprenticeship program in partnership with Tennessee College of Applied Technology-Shelbyville.

The program is driven by the steadfast leadership and dedication of president Mary Beth Seals and staff development coordinator Emily Shultz.

We celebrated alongside members of Lincoln Health leadership, Southern Middle Local Workforce Board, the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development including Commissioner Deniece Thomas and assistant administrator of rural workforce initiatives Teresa Smith, and the State Office of Apprenticeship Apprenticeship Tennessee.

THA is excited to see the growing enthusiasm around apprenticeship as a pathway to the nursing profession.

Congratulations to Covenant Health Roane Medical Center for launching the Growing Roane’s Own (GRO) LPN apprenticeship program! THA was honored to celebrate this important step in growing the local healthcare workforce.

Covenant Health Roane Medical Center is the first hospital in the state to develop and implement the THA LPN Pre-Licensure Apprenticeship Program. Through a partnership with Tennessee College of Applied Technology Harriman apprentices will be able to work with their employer of choice in a role that aligns with the requirements of the LPN program.

THA wants to recognize the leadership of Jason Pilant DHA, MBA, FACHE, CEO, and Brenda Gray, CNO, in paving the way for the apprenticeship model in Tennessee.
