Advanced Physical Therapy and Massage in Iowa City is permanently closed. I have nothing to do with the Asian massage parlor at 359 N 1st Ave in Iowa City. They have previously stolen my professional identity.

Yesterday just before dusk Ricky, Luther(my 3 yr old goldador)and I were mountain biking and a raccoon was on the trail. The raccoon barred its teeth and Luther started to attack it. We pulled Luther off and put our bike tires between the two and told Luther to”leave it!” The raccoon seemed to be convulsing and it’s mouth was opening and closing like it was trying to bite. I was holding onto Luther and Ricky went back to check on the raccoon wielding a stick. I said “let me check on him, I’m the animal whisperer” After a few minutes he came back and said he didn’t think the raccoon would make it. The raccoon was still convulsing. I went to the raccoon and started to do some energy work. I focused a lot on his head. The raccoon made some noises and gradually the convulsing ceased. He calmed and I started to lightly stroke him. Suddenly he rolled onto his feet and shook himself off. He turned and came towards me. I was in a full crouch. He softly stood and put his paw on my leg and sniffed me. I sensed that he didn’t want to hurt me but Ricky was concerned and said that we should go. I stood and the raccoon went over to a tree and climbed a few feet up, looking up the trail at Luther. I petted him once again and we left. It was so cool! Thank you, John F Barnes MFR, healing touch, and Upledger Craniosacral therapy for teaching me how to use these gifts to not only assist humans to heal, but animals as well!❤️❤️🙏
Unfortunately we did not get any pics of this amazing experience, but I will always remember it!

New website is coming soon with a new business name. I had some trouble with an Asian massage business in Iowa City stealing my professional identity and advertising that I worked there!
I am a physical therapist with over 1000 hrs of continuing education in therapeutic bodywork in addition to Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. I’m an expert John Barnes myofascial release practitioner and Upledger Craniosacral therapist. I’ve had training in Jean Pierre Barral visceral manipulation, nerve gliding, ASTYM which is like Graston with plastic tools, women’s health, vestibular rehabilitation, and mobilization techniques. I also have training in deep tissue massage and Swedish massage.
I evaluate the body as a whole and treat back pain, neck pain, leg/arm pain, headaches, anxiety, GI issues, dizziness, women’s health, feeding issues and other infant issues. Sometimes depression can be improved by performing three gentle Craniosacral techniques.
I am a proponent that food is medicine and what we consume affects inflammation in our body and its ability to heal. I also educate my patients on self-help exercises and functional, sport-specific exercise.
I sustained a low back and SI injury and lived with chronic pain for two years. I couldn’t run or do other activities I loved. After I took John Barnes’ fascial pelvis course and learned and experienced the techniques to align the sacrum and low back, my pain resolved. I also learned that chronic pain and trauma have subconscious components and have received training to support patients through this process.
