The window of tolerance is your 'sweet spot' for emotional regulation. It's the place where you feel grounded & able to handle life's ups & downs without shutting down or spiraling.
When you're inside your window of tolerance, you can think clearly. Feel emotions without being overwhelmed. Connect with others.
Stress, trauma, & depression all shrink that window. They limit your capacity to be your best self & put you in hyperarousal (anxiety, panic, anger, feeling out of control) or hypoarousal (numbness, shutdown, feeling checked out).
Take some time over the next week to notice where the edges of your tolerance lie. Notice how the people, places, and things around you can impact it. Notice what shrinks and what expands your window. No judgment. Just curiosity.
