A captured moment from this morning’s board meeting. We spend the first 30 minutes of each meeting sharing about our current creative projects and practice.

As an organization, we aspire to ensure that the way we are in practice together at our meetings mirrors the way that we share our practice in our programs and services.

We are deeply committed to exploring not only how to reconnect with ourselves, each other, and the earth through mindful craft - but also how we can craft an organization that is people-driven so that we can advance work that is mission-driven.

Thank you dear founding council for your practice and your co-creation 🌱

There is something particularly important about taking an object or material that may be familiar to you and using it in a completely new way…

Our initial inspiration to design the quahog as a weaving loom came from a lifelong love of the fascinating purple interior of the quahog shell known as wampum. We spent months playing and carving (and alas, breaking) shells until we discovered a way to utilize them as a natural loom.

Please join us for this special 3-hour in-person workshop at where you will learn how to transform the quahog shell from common clam into a truly delightful work of art. Explore the history and cultural significance of this bivale while you warp and weave your own shell.

Workshop cost includes all materials AND a stuffed quahog snack!

Today, I start begin a period of writing full-time to complete an upcoming book on mindful craft (yes please wish me luck!)

Sometimes, writing is writing.

Sometimes it’s knitting then writing.

Sometimes it’s writing-knitting-writing.

Sometimes, it’s just knitting.

I’ve realized that my creative practices are not only intertwined - they feed each other. I get inspired by language as I knit, and often while at my computer my hands long to touch something other than a keyboard.

I consider this my contemplative writing craft. It took me a long time to allow myself to write like this. There’s more joy in it now.

May you find your practice. 🧶

May it be a delight for you. ✨

Some people go to church in Sundays in search of the spiritual. Others find it on Saturday evenings carefully combing out a sheep fleece.

That powerful feeling of connection can be present anywhere…

For those who know the power of craft, you know it can be found right there between your two hands ✨

Our sense of touch is a superpower - a subtle voice gently whispering the world’s secrets through our fingertips. ✨

But for many of us, this voice is becoming weaker and we are forgetting how to speak its language.

Attending a fiber festival is like a crash course in a foreign language - a way to remember how to speak the tongue of the material world…

Places like offer more than a great place to shop for yarn - they are also an immersive sensory experience where we can reconnect animal to fiber to craft. We can smell and touch different types of sheep and then see their processed wool in beautiful skeins of yarn. We can find comfort and joy in a community of makers who care deeply for the tending of connections between land, creature, and maker.

These experiences matter. They help us bring our craft to life. They revive our sense of connection to ourselves, each other, and the earth. ❤️🐑🙏

Thank you to everyone who made possible! ❤️🙏🐑

Day 1 of .

As a first-timer, it was a bit overwhelming but also a total delight to be surrounded on ALL sides by humans who care deeply about craft and fiber creatures of all varieties.

An important time to replenish the joy reserve 🐑

Feeling so touched by the feedback we received from participants of our recent Creative BEing retreat. It reinforces our belief that this work is important and needed right now. ❤️

These beautiful quahog looms were warped and woven at our Creative BEing Contemplative Craft Retreat last weekend.

We shared some of the ecological and cultural history of wampum - including its importance to Wampanoag peoples who stewarded the land on which we crafted. A quahog shell can take 2-4 years to mature and live up to 100 years!

Interweaving slow craft with these special local materials helped connect us more deeply to ourselves through weaving, to each other through collective making, and the earth through a deeper (literally hands-on) understanding of our materials.

Beyond the beauty of these tiny creations as they unfolded themselves! ✨

Last weekend we gathered on the shores of Wellfleet Harbor to spend 4 days exploring and enjoying our creative being-ness.

Together, we wove shells, shared nourishing meals, watched the sunset, shared deeply, and explored the landscape of mindfulness and contemplative Craft.

It is amazing how fast (re)connection can occur when offered the space, time, and shared intention.

What a beautiful group of human beings - so touched by this beautiful weekend together ❤️

(and thank you SO very much, Wellfleet, for offering us THE most beautiful conditions for this retreat 🌱)

Craft in community is powerful. It’s a way to amplify the joy of making with our hands. ✨

Contemplative craft in community builds on this joy and helps us to deepen our connection to ourselves, each other, and our making practice through gentle guided practice.

We are thrilled to be offering what we hope to be an ongoing monthly Mindful Knitting Series at The Center for the Spiritual Journey in Chatham, MA.

Through this gathering, you will not only walk away with ideas about how to incorporate mindfulness into your own knitting, you will also have a unique opportunity to experience what it feels like to practice and connect through knitting in community. Please bring any yarn and any needles you have.
You will best enjoy this gathering if you possess the basic knitting skills of cast-on, knit stitch, purl stitch, and casting off. No previous experience with mindfulness or meditation is required. Tea will be served.

Suggested Donation: $25 🙏
