Elisabeth is an Amedisys volunteer and medical student who shares her love of reading, writing and storytelling as a pen pal to our hospice patients. She was drawn to letter writing as a simple, meaningful way to reconnect with the written word and has long believed in the quiet reflection that comes from sending a letter the old-fashioned way.
“Volunteering as a pen pal has become one of the most grounding and meaningful parts of my routine,” she says. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to send kindness this way, one envelope at a time.”
For Elisabeth, the act of writing is itself an offering—a way to show presence, care and curiosity about another person’s life, and a reminder of the value found in slowing down.
