Does the amount of substance you use matter? How much is too much alcohol? Have you ever said, I don’t have a problem, but have others been concerned? Substance use, whether it’s alcohol or drugs is not binary. It’s not sober or addict. In fact, it’s more of a scale that can fluctuate. How much you use isn’t as much of the issue as how it affects the rest of your life and your relationships. Read more in our most recent article in our blog (link in bio). And a reminder that therapy is available to help you understand how or why you’re using alcohol in the way you are to prevent it from becoming a larger issue.

How do you improve your breathing naturally? Our body breathes on its own, but with stress, the way we sit, the way we sleep, can all contribute to breathing not being optimal. When we’re not breathing fully or well, it can cause things like anxiety, pain in the rib cage, etc. Here one of our therapists breaks down three ways that you can improve your breathing.

First, you want to make sure you’re inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your mouth. Then you want to make sure your exhale is longer than your inhale. And third, make sure the counting works for you and your body.

Grief isn’t just about losing a loved one or a pet. We can grieve many things in our life. Grief is about the loss of something. It could be the loss of a friendship, it could be a divorce, it could be a friendship break up, it could be losing a job, it could be moving, etc. The feelings and stages of grief can enter into any and all of these situations and is quite common. Therapy can help.

How do you pick a good therapist? How do you find the one that’s right for you?

The vibe or energy you get from your therapist is a big part of it.

We recommend starting at: sereniumwellness.com/find-a-therapist/ to curate what you want. Depending on your needs and availability of that therapist is how you’re placed. However, we get it right 85% of the time. But that 15% mismatch has to do with the vibe you feel with that person.

So what do you do?

Try that person for 3 sessions as it takes time to get a feel for someone. BUT, and this is important, if it doesn’t feel like the right fit, clarify why and ask for a different person. Therapists know this matters and happens and do NOT get offended. :) And at our practice for example, we have over 100 to choose from.

It’s your life. Choose the therapist that will help YOU best.
