Carbohydrates are the body and brain's primary fuel source. They refill glycogen stores, power you through workouts, and support recovery and sleep. So why is there so much confusion around carbs?
The problem isn't eating carbs.
It's eating the wrong kinds of carbs.
Whole carbs like fruit, rice, and potatoes are packed with fiber and nutrients. They digest slowly, provide sustained energy, and don't cause blood sugar spikes. Processed carbs, on the other hand, are stripped of essential nutrients and fiber, replaced with empty calories from added sugars and unhealthy fats. They're incredibly easy to overeat because they lack fiber, so they don't trigger fullness signals in your stomach.
While adequate protein intake is essential, it's just as important to fuel your body with whole carbs that energize your mind, stabilize blood sugar, and keep you satisfied. The key is choosing nutrient-dense whole foods and avoiding highly processed options.
