Why is it hard for many of us to do things for ourselves before we sacrifice for others? Taking on responsibilities that might be well or even better handled by others is one of the ways we begin to lose our balance and slide down the slippery slope from generosity to martyrdom. It's easy to put yourself first, and it only takes a moment.

We believe cremation can and should be an experience. Saying goodbye to a loved one is necessary regardless of what you choose for the body’s final resting place. The grieving process starts at a funeral, celebration of life, or gathering of some sort. In planning for your own funeral, or at the time of need for a loved one, consider creating an experience for friends, families, colleagues, and neighbors to say goodbye and begin the grieving process. If you would like us to contact you to answer any questions regarding a celebration of life, let us know if you prefer communication by phone or email: http://mortonsmortuary.celebrate-life.us/reach-out/

For those that know they want to be cremated after death, any idea what to do with cremated remains? A nice benefit of cremation are the vast options available for the final resting place of the cremated remains. Options include placing cremated remains in an urn or multiple urns, sharing them with family, burying them in a family cemetery plot, placing them in a columbarium, scattering them at a cremation garden or elsewhere, and more.

Hospice aides are an essential part of the hospice care team, and for anyone taking end-of-life preplanning seriously. Sometimes called a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA), they often develop close relationships with patients and their families, and we frequently coordinate with them.

Funeral planning has developed quite the reputation. We’re here to set the record straight.
Funeral planning is NOT morbid. In fact, most who plan in advance feel relieved, a greater sense of peace and contentment from their actions.
Funeral planning is NOT traditional and dated. Instead, funeral planning has constantly been changing how we accept death and celebrate a life lived. It’s actually the Baby Boomer generation who has changed things up, in favor of personalization within traditional and non-traditional funeral choices.
Funeral planning is NOT a waste of time. In fact, planning in advance saves time, and drastically decreases stress and challenging decisions for survivors in the days after a death.
