🌿 Play that builds connection - one ride at a time.

Today’s spotlight: Parallel Play on the Seesaw

For many children, especially those with autism, play doesn’t always start with direct interaction- and that’s okay. Parallel play is a powerful stepping stone toward meaningful social connection.
✨ While two children ride a seesaw side-by-side, so much learning is happening:

💚 Sensory Integration
The up-and-down movement provides vestibular input, helping the body feel more regulated and organized.
👀 Eye Contact
Natural opportunities to glance at a peer during movement and shared excitement.
🔄 Turn-Taking
Learning the rhythm of “my turn / your turn” through movement and timing.
🤝 Joint Attention
Sharing an experience together — even without words — builds the foundation for communication.
🌱 Social Comfort & Awareness
Being near peers in a fun, low-pressure way helps children feel safe engaging socially.

Our centers enjoyed celebrating Saint Patrick's Day yesterday with lots of fun and creativity! 🍀

We loved our dramatic play with “shamrock sunglasses” 😎 , creating rainbow streamers 🌈 and creating Saint Patrick's Day crafts 💚

Spring sensory play is a great way for kids to explore and learn.

Activities with colorful eggs, textured bins, and spring-themed materials help children engage their senses while playing and discovering.

Sensory play also supports important early skills like:
👀 Joint attention — sharing focus on the same object or activity
🧸 Parallel play — playing alongside peers while exploring similar materials

These simple moments of play help build attention, curiosity, and early social learning. Sometimes the best learning happens through hands-on exploration. 🌼
