It never ceases to amaze me after all the years of genealogy, I still learn more about my ancestors.
The scion of the American Ames family was William Ames, who happens to be my 8th great grandfather, who was born in England in 1605.
William Ames immigrated to Massachusetts Bay in 1638, he eventually settled in Braintree, and died about 1653. With his wife Hannah, they had six children, only one was a son. I descend from their son John.
The Ames descendants leads to Easton, MA ,where the family is well-known that operated a world-class shovel factory.
