Since that time our goal has been to offer you and your pet the best medical care possible. We also strive to educate you on pet nutrition, flea and tick control, dental care, behavior modification and more. We feel so strongly about your pets, that we offer prospective owners a complimentary consultation and scheduled tour of the hospital facility to further educate them on the responsibilities of pet ownership. At BVH, we try our best to emphasize owner participation in all aspects of a pet's care. We work hard to build your trust in us. We want you to know that your pet is receiving loving, quality care. For nearly 22 years, Tara has been a devoted part of the BVH family. From day one, her mission has been simple but powerful: help pets live healthy, happy lives—and support the people who love them.

Tara believes in being there for families not only during the joyful moments, but also during the most difficult ones. She provides compassion, guidance, and strength when owners face some of the hardest decisions of their pets’ lives. Her heart is truly at the center of everything she does. ❤️🐾

When she’s not caring for our patients, you’ll find Tara playing softball and volleyball, relaxing at the beach, or getting creative with arts and crafts.

Pain Detection

Left untreated, chronic pain from arthritis and other common age-related conditions can negatively affect your senior pet’s quality of life. But prompt diagnosis and treatment can restore comfortable mobility, allowing your senior pet to age with grace—not pain.

Subtle—and not so subtle—pain signs may include:
🤕Panting
🤕Hunching
🤕Hiding
🤕Increased sleeping or restlessness
🤕Irritability or aggression
🤕Decreased interest in physical activities or play
🤕Avoiding physical contact
🤕Increased or decreased grooming

Limping is a classic sign of pain in pets, but it’s not the most common. Senior pets learn to adapt to their discomfort by changing how they move. These compensations can appear as changes in behavior or personality when they’re actually masking chronic pain.
