Bridgewater Retirement Community

Bridgewater Retirement Community Discover "energy for life" in a community that provides the support and opportunities to live your retirement to the fullest.

What we love at BRC is our sense of community. Enjoying the feel of small-town living, while maintaining our connections with the greater community is what makes Bridgewater Retirement Community such a great place to live. It's that welcome feeling you get when your neighbor greets you, when team members know your name. We are a comfortable neighborhood where senior adults (55 plus) can enjoy the benefits of small-town living while enjoying the freedom to make the most of retirement. The wide variety of housing and healthcare options in this lively Life Plan Community allows you to relax in the beauty of the Shenandoah Valley while remaining a close travel distance to the attractions of Richmond, Charlottesville, Roanoke, Washington DC, and other metropolitan areas. Set aside home maintenance and lawn care and free up time for your family, friends, and the pastimes you cherish. At BRC, you'll discover a wide variety of maintenance-free apartments, cottages, and cluster homes, set in gently winding streets with mature trees and beautiful landscaping. We've never lost that "old-fashioned" sense of neighborhood. People share an easy fellowship, caring about one another and enjoying activities when they choose. Best of all, living here lets you enjoy peace of mind, knowing you've secured your future in a comfortable, friendly community.

We are proud to receive messages like this—such a powerful reminder of why we do what we do:

“I am writing to express our deepest gratitude and recognition for the entire Serenity Team that provided extraordinary care to my father during his final days. Our family will forever be thankful for the compassion, dignity, and attentiveness you showed him and us during such a sacred and difficult time.

Your team’s genuine caring was evident in every detail. You took such thoughtful care to ensure my dad had the foods and drinks he preferred, helping bring him comfort and familiarity when so much else was beyond his control. You treated him with tenderness and respect while feeding and bathing him, always preserving his dignity.

Because my father was paralyzed and unable to use his call bell, it meant everything to us that someone checked on him every 30 minutes without fail. Knowing he was never left alone or forgotten brought our family tremendous peace of mind. The frequent turning and repositioning to relieve pressure showed your commitment to his comfort and physical well-being, even in the smallest moments.

One of the nurses stopped by the day my father passed away to give us a hug. We explained that we wished she had known my father prior to this. She responded, ‘We could all tell what a wonderful man he was by the pictures, a man full of life who loved his family.’

Jayne, Kellie, and Kayla were three names we remembered, but ultimately the kindness, patience, and vigilance of the entire team went far beyond medical care. You cared for him as a person. In doing so, you also cared for our family.

We will never forget the reassurance we felt knowing he was in such capable and compassionate hands. Please accept our heartfelt thanks and recognition for the beautiful work you do every day. Your calling is evident, and your care made a lasting difference in our lives.

The excellent care given helped remind me why I became a nurse and chose Bridgewater as the starting point of my career. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

Thank you, Serenity Team, for the compassion and dignity you bring to residents and their families each and every day. 🩵 👐

🎄💌 Sending Christmas Cards to BRC Residents? Here’s How! 👇

We’ve received lots of calls asking how to address Christmas cards for our residents—thank you for thinking of them this season! To help clear up any confusion, here are easy mailing instructions:

📬 For assisted living & nursing household residents, address cards to:
[Resident’s Name]
302 N Second St.
Bridgewater, VA 22812

That’s all you need! No household name, no apartment number—we have a reliable internal process to make sure each card reaches the right resident.

📬 For independent living residents, address cards to:
[Resident’s Name]
+ their street address

Thank you for helping us spread Christmas cheer throughout BRC this year! 💙✨

Last week truly kicked off the holiday season here! We started with our Holiday Market, where talented residents and team members showcased their handmade gifts, treats, and crafts—a festive and heartwarming way to begin the week. 🎁💙

We wrapped the week up with our Grand Illumination & Christmas Open House, lighting up the community and ringing in the Christmas spirit together. Guests explored the 17 beautifully decorated Christmas trees throughout the Houff Community Center—each one unique, warm, and full of holiday magic. ✨🌲

Then, a few of us joined in on the Town of Bridgewater's Christmas Parade with our own float… and let’s just say Elsa was quite the crowd favorite! ❄️👑

We are deeply grateful to everyone who attended and supported this year’s Lovelight Service at Lantz Chapel.

A heartfelt thank-you to Chaplain Russ Barb for leading the service, to the Village Choir under the direction of Wil Nolen for the beautiful music, and to Diane Metzler for lighting the Lovelight tree and honoring loved ones with each light.

Thanks to donor generosity, we raised an incredible $12,430 for the BRC Foundation! Your participation made this cherished tradition truly special.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! 🎄💙
