What an exciting day! The Utah Foot Zone Association announced the creation of a National Foot Zone Association, a National Foot Zone Certification Board and eventually a national board exam that will facilitate legislation in States other than Utah.

That moment when you are walking out of work carrying your training feet and you pause to wonder if this might get the cops called on you... 😂

Yes, I have silicone feet. Yes, they look real. Yes, they are creepy and funny. Yes, they make for good pranks. 🤣

Why do I own something so weird? They are great for teaching. I can hold them up and manipulate them in ways that I wouldn't be able to do if they were attached to a human. And that allows me to be a better teacher when I am showing people exactly where to find signal points.

I have had a couple of interactions recently where people expressed disappointment and confusion about the training that they received during a foot zoning course. I wanted to share my thoughts on what to look for in a certification course.

✔️ A solid training in the foot zone signals, how to trigger them, and how to flow through them. Ideally requiring memorization before certifying.

✔️ Thorough training in anatomy and physiology so that you, as a practitioner, understand the function of organs and body systems that you are triggering. This can help you dial in and customize the zone as needed.

✔️ Professional training materials. Professionally illustrated texts reduce confusion compared to hand drawn illustrations.

✔️ Basic instruction in the local laws regarding practicing foot zoning professionally. Nobody wants to tango with DOPL!

✔️ Training in practitioner etiquette. You should leave with some basic skills for interacting with your clients in a professional way. This helps elevate the entire industry.

✔️ Instruction in how to manage energy and the role that energy plays in the foot zone.

✔️ Teacher student fit. Not every school or instructor is going to be the right fit for every student. Interview your instructor, get a foot zone from them, see if it is a good fit.
