I often wonder during the Christmas season what those who choose not to believe in Jesus Christ are celebrating? I begin to do some digging about the traditions that we all see such as decorating our houses putting up trees, buying gifts and how they relate to the birth of our Lord and Savior.
The decorating of our homes and putting up Christmas lights was originally done to emphasize that Jesus is the light of the world that his light overcomes darkness in John 12:46. It says “I have come as a light to shine in this dark world so that all who put their trust in me, will no longer wonder in the darkness.”

So as you look around this Christmas season, enjoying all the beautiful lights that illuminate our world. Remember that the greatest light of all is the light of Christ merry Christmas.
