Please join us in congratulating Danne Shosey, Gary Shelters, Don Sanch, Larry Straub, and Brian Rowlette This past weekend they were awarded Honorary Membership into the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association - the highest honor that a non-coach can receive!
Here is the amazing words that were shared during the presentation:
"Tonight, we are proud to present Honorary Membership in the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association to a remarkable group of individuals whose tireless dedication behind the scenes has supported Brighton High School football for decades.
Leading this distinguished group is Danne Shosey, whose remarkable 50-year journey with the chain crew began in the fall of 1974. Danne's commitment traces back to family roots, inspired by his father-in-law, Neil Fisher, and Neil's brother, Du Fisher, who started working the chains in 1966. Over half a century, Danne has anchored the crew, passing on tradition and dedication to the next generations, including two of his sons who now serve as part of the current crew.
Tonight, alongside Danne, we honor:
Gary Shelters (Brighton Class of '72), with 35 years of service
Don Sanch (Brighton Class of '75), with 27 years of service
Larry Straub (Brighton Class of '74), with 18 years of service
And Brian Rowlette (Brighton Class of '71), who has unfortunately passed away, but gave an amazing 32 years of service before stepping away.
Together with current crew members and past contributors, this team has witnessed unforgettable moments in Brighton football history— including the Drew Henson years, the 2019 State Final run, and their personal favorite of having the opportunity to run the chains at Michigan Stadium when Brighton had the honor of playing there.
These five men embody the unsung people behind high school football: dependable, knowledgeable, and deeply invested in the success and tradition of the game. Their combined service spans well over a century, and their impact cannot be understated.
Please join us in celebrating Danne Shosey, Gary Shelters, Don Sanch, Larry Straub, and Brian Rowlette as they receive well-deserved Honorary Membership in the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association. Thank you for your lifelong commitment to Brighton football and to the sport we all love."
