Friendly Senior Living Friendly Senior Living is a continuum of caring communities - Cloverwood, Friendly Home, Glenmere, Lily Brook, Linden Knoll, and Lovejoy.

Because friends care ... Always. In 1849, a group of benevolent women formed the "Rochester Society for the Relief of Friendless and Homeless Females." As the Society grew, an old tavern was purchased on the corner of East Avenue and Alexander Street in downtown Rochester for its new location. The Society was then incorporated under the name "The Rochester Home for the Friendless." As the mission of the organization evolved and the need for services increased, the Home moved to its current location at 3156 East Avenue in Brighton, and became known as "The Rochester Friendly Home." Later, the name changed to simply "The Friendly Home," as it is known today. Although our name has changed over the years, the sentiments and philosophy that first inspired the original Society have remained constant. From an organization that sheltered homeless women to an organization that is committed to providing a continuum of care to older adults, The Friendly Home has always been dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of those we serve

There’s something special about laughter that spans generations 😄

We loved welcoming students from Allendale Columbia School to the Friendly Home for a joyful visit filled with smiles, stories, and a few red noses. Sitting together, sharing moments, and simply being present created connections that truly matter.

The best part? These students visit our Members each month during the school year, bringing even more laughter and light along the way.

A little “dose” of sweetness goes a long way.

At our Treats on the Boss event today, we wrote a simple prescription for our team — Rx: Take one candy bar. Repeat as needed. No prior authorization required.

It’s a small gesture to recognize something much bigger — the care, compassion, patience, and teamwork our staff bring to our Members, Residents, and to each other every single day.

Because when you provide care with heart, handle the daily “crunch,” and show up with consistent compassion, you deserve to feel appreciated.

Sometimes, the best way to say thank you is simple: we see you, we value you, and we’re grateful for all that you do.

A little Irish spirit came our way just in time for St. Patrick’s Day! ☘️

Members and Residents were treated to an energetic and joyful performance by the talented dancers from Rince Na Tiarna and the Rochester Academy of Irish Dance. Their music, rhythm, and incredible footwork had everyone smiling, clapping, and feeling the festive spirit.
