Let's get back to the basics!
Growing up on a large-scale apple orchard in Western Massachusetts, I learned the invaluable life experiences that growing your own food has to offer. The majority of people don't give a second thought to where their food comes from, never mind what it has been through to get to your plate. If not for health reasons, then contribute in order to help facilitate the growth of local food systems and communities.
Throughout my coursework I learned about the startling amount of processed goods our citizens consume; roughly making up seventy percent of the US diet. “Processing” food is the adding of salt, sugar, and/or fat to a food product. These processed goods can legally contain up to five-thousand additives. Processed foods have become the overwhelming reality of everyday consumption, contributing to so many of the ailments plaguing modern day society.
We aim to arm you with the tools to change that, one community at at time. Rethink what it means to be a consumer, take back control!
