Mental Gymnastics: Convincing yourself that a "Sure" text message actually means your boss is planning to fire you.

Weightlifting: Carrying the stress of a conversation you had in 2012.

The Marathon: Replaying every possible worst-case scenario for a meeting that hasn't happened yet.

There is a lot of mental health advice on the internet, but let's clear up a common misconception we see in the therapy room.

The Myth: "Self-care is just bubble baths and spa days." The Reality: Self-care is often doing the hard things that make your future self feel better. It’s saying no, cleaning the kitchen, or finally booking that first therapy appointment.

Which one resonates more with you today? 1. The "Soft" self-care (rest, comfort) 2. The "Hard" self-care (boundaries, tasks)

We can't emphasize this enough. It is very important that if you suspect that you have OCD to find a therapist that specializes in it. Even well-intentioned therapists can do harm to someone with OCD just because the treatment for it is so unique.

If you suffer from OCD, or suspect that you might, don't hesitate to reach out! Schedule a free consultation now at kindattention.org
