YWCA Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia Eliminating Racism, Empowering Women, Nurturing Children and Promoting Health since 1943.

YWCA of Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. We advance our mission through programs supporting the economic empowerment of women and girls, women's and girls' health and safety, and racial justice and civil rights. Our sliding scale daycare, teen pregnancy and parenting education program, free afterschool STEM program, and many other programs are part of advancing these goals.

We're sharing another proud moment from YWCA's celebration of Veterans Day! Today our TechGYRLS presented Mr. Melvin Woods with a special tribute to his service. Melvin is a proud US Army veteran who faithfully takes care of our flags here at YWCA, along with the flags of other businesses in the area. We're glad to have him as part of our YW extended family. 🥰

Make sure to admire the artwork and poem created by the TechGYRLS in honor of Melvin!

We're proud to honor one of very own here at YWCA! Technical Sergeant Kayla Csanady currently serves with the Tennessee Air National Guard and is a US Air Force veteran. Thirteen years total and counting of service! As you can see, she was greeted this morning with serveral tokens of warm appreciation--including a handmade sign from some of our childcare kids. 🥰

Today is Veterans Day, a federal holiday that honors all who have served in the US Armed Forces. Originally called Armistice Day to commemorate the end of World War I, its name was changed in 1954 to honor veterans of all wars.

Let us all take the opportunity today to thank the many US veterans living among us for their service and sacrifices on our behalf. ❤️

Something for those in the Bristol area to keep in mind as the holiday season gets underway...

Emmanuel Episcopal Church invites the entire Bristol community and area visitors to join in two beloved holiday traditions — the Community Thanksgiving Dinner and the Community Christmas Dinner — both offered at no cost and open to all.

The Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be held on Thursday, November 28, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM, and the Community Christmas Dinner will take place on Thursday, December 25, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM.
