"Ring the Lucky Leprechaun" - Residents participated in a St. Patrick's Day themed activity in which they tossed rainbow-colored rings over weighted leprechaun targets.
Residents took turns aiming and tossing the rings while peers provided encouragement and support. This activity addressed upper extremity range of motion, hand-eye coordination, and dynamic sitting/standing balance. The game also promoted cognitive engagement through attention to task and turn-taking while fostering social interaction and friendly competition among residents.

Our dedicated therapy team recently hosted a lively 'Spring Fling - Duck Toss' carnival for residents! Residents participated in a structured group exercise session followed by a therapeutic activity modeled after "Red Light, Green Light." The session began with guided warmup exercises to promote range of motion, strength, and postural control.
During the activity, residents were required to listen for verbal color cues and accurately toss a bean bag into the corresponding colored ring. This intervention targeted cognitive skills including auditory processing, attention to task, and response inhibition, while simultaneously addressing dynamic standing balance, weight shifting, motor planning, and upper extremity coordination.

"Olympic Games - Bobsledding" - Residents participated in a structured group session that began with guided warm-up exercises targeting upper extremity range of motion, strength, and coordination in preparation for the bobsledding activity. Following warm-up, residents engaged in a simulated "bobsled" race, utilizing repetitive upper extremity propulsion movements to advance their sleds toward the finish line.
This intervention addressed upper extremity strength and endurance, bilateral coordination, motor planning, and sustained attention to task. The competitive and team-based format encouraged peer interaction, social engagement, and motivation, while promoting dynamic participation in a therapeutic exercise context. Verbal cues and graded assistance were provided as needed to tacilitate proper movement patterns and task completion.
