One of our CNAs, Rebecca, recently shared her experience going through the CNA course at Westview.
She came in with a personal goal of becoming a CNA and started out working in housekeeping while taking the course. That gave her a chance to get to know residents and feel part of the community right away, which made the transition into her new role feel a lot more natural.
When she talks about the program, she doesn’t focus on how hard it was or how fast it went. She talks about the people. The instructors who took their time, answered every question, and never made her feel silly for asking. Having someone go through it alongside her. Feeling supported instead of overwhelmed.
Now she’s doing what she set out to do - caring for residents, building relationships, and continuing to grow. She even shared that down the road, she’s thinking about taking the next step in her career when the timing is right for her family.
The part that stuck with us most was her advice to anyone considering the course: "it’s worth it, don’t stress, and don’t be afraid to ask questions because people here will help you."
That’s really what this program is about. Not just getting certified, but giving people a real path into healthcare with the kind of support that actually makes a difference.
If you’ve been thinking about becoming a CNA, Westview is a great place to start.
