With the holidays approaching and our scheduling becoming fuller then normal, I’m reposting a previous post from earlier this year. This season is the time to utilize our E-visit services.

PLEASE READ:
As you all have probably noticed, we are getting busier and busier. This is great and gives me a lot of pride knowing there are so many of you that value what we do at BADM. However this does create a problem… Appointments are having to be scheduled farther out than would be if we were not as busy. In our attempts to take care of everyone regardless of the appointments available, we are having to manage issues via portal messages and phone calls more and more. This has always been, and will always be a part of medicine, but unfortunately it has been encroaching on our personal time more than is reasonable. Also means we are “working for free” way more than is reasonable. Work/Life balance is important so I have come up with a way to alleviate our concerns while not sacrificing your access to care.
We will be instituting a $35 charge for E-Visits (patient issues managed via phone or portal through our office workflows).
E-Visit Examples:
1. Patient calls or sends a portal message regarding an acute illness/injury (sinus infection, uti, etc) and no appointment is available within a reasonable amount of time. Patient will have the option of paying $35 and the details of the issue will be passed on to the appropriate provider. You may still be asked to come to the office for urinalysis, flu/strep test, etc as we deem appropriate, but no appointment will be necessary.
2. Patient calls or sends message requesting a service that is not related to a recently discussed treatment plan between you and your provider. These would be requests such as needing an x-ray ordered for an injury, or referral to a specialist for a problem we have not discussed.
There is no way to outline every possible scenario but I hope the above examples help in the understanding of the policy.
We will not be charging commercial insurance for this service.
Soonercare patients are exempt from this policy for legal reasons.
DPC contract patients are also exempt from this policy as you already pay a monthly fee which includes this type of service.
Thank you in advance for your understanding and patience as we work to maintain our high standard of care without sacrificing our sanity 😂. Feel free to comment with any questions but please keep them general in nature as this is a public forum and we cannot discuss specifics with patients via this medium.
Thank you,
