We’re honored to have our ALS Transport (Advanced Life Support) team nominated for Non-Profit Organization of the Year at the Broken Bow Nebraska Chamber of Commerce annual banquet. This recognition means a lot to our team.
Over the last few years, Broken Bow Ambulance Service has continued to grow and evolve to meet the needs of our community:
• Interfacility transports
2023: 0
2024: 63
2025: 111 (85 from Melham Medical Center, 26 from Callaway District Hospital)
• Our ALS team
Out of 30 members, we have 3 Advanced EMTs, 4 Paramedics, and 1 Flight Nurse. Our Flight Nurse holds four board certifications, and 3 of our paramedics are currently pursuing their CCP-C (critical care certification), a credential achieved by less than 1% of paramedics.
While our ALS team was nominated, everything we do is only possible because of our full team, including our EMTs and drivers.
• Training & collaboration
We host quarterly trainings and invite surrounding EMS agencies to join us as we continue raising the standard of care across the region.
• Expanding capabilities
With support from the City of Broken Bow, we’ve added a third ambulance this past year, and there have already been multiple times all three units were in service at the same time. We’ve also added a ventilator, allowing us to better care for critically ill patients during transport.
• Looking ahead
We are working toward becoming a Beacon Community in partnership with Lincoln Fire & Rescue through the Resuscitation Academy, helping bring enhanced training, resources, and a strong focus on high-quality CPR and cardiac arrest survival to central Nebraska.
We’re proud to serve this community and continue building a service that can meet both everyday and critical needs. While many may not realize it, we operate as a separate entity alongside our fire department, and we greatly value the teamwork and support we share in serving Broken Bow.
Thank you to our members, our partners, and our community for the continued support.
