Congratulations to our 2026 January Employee Spotlight of the Month, Monica Howell!

Monica has been a nurse here at George Ade for many years, working mostly on midnight shift. Monica’s favorite restaurant is Red Lobster, and she loves to eat fish and lobster and drink margaritas. She enjoys cooking, baking, and collecting old coins and antiques. She has a hidden talent for drawing cartoons and a big fear of bees. Working on Halloween is her favorite time at work and on a bad day, relaxing and watching T.V. cheers her up. The most courageous thing Monica has done is climbing a ladder and her biggest accomplishment has been buying a house and becoming a homeowner. The best advice she has ever received is signing up for a 401K. Monica is a dedicated worker who is dependable to our staff and compassionate towards our residents. Most of our staff do not see Monica since she works midnights, but her name is mentioned a lot by residents, complimenting her on her bedside manner, and her calm and caring nature.

Thank you, Monica, for all you do here at George Ade! We are very blessed to have you!

It is an honor and pleasure to announce George Ade’s 2025 Employee of the Year, Brenda Manns!

Brenda has worked off and on at George Ade for twenty years as our admissions assistant and as a nurse. Brenda is a dependable worker whom all staff, residents, and resident family members can count on. She takes time with all residents and makes sure they have everything they need and want. She pays attention to all of them and if they seem like they are cold, she gets them a warm blanket, or if they say they are hungry, she knows the perfect snack to bring them and if they are visibly uncomfortable or upset, she knows how to handle each situation with care and compassion. It is the small act of kindness and observation that makes Brenda a wonderful nurse, and coworker. She is an amazing advocate for them and takes time to speak and explain anything to their family members, and to themselves, to ensure that they are in a safe and caring environment. She also is not afraid to speak up and advocate for her fellow coworkers as well and is enjoyable to work with. Brenda’s family is incredibly important and precious to her, and she shows the same characteristics to our residents. She has gone through some incredibly scary and life-changing events, but those have not defeated her. She continues to be a compassionate nurse and is a true blessing to George Ade and everyone there. Brenda, you are incredibly deserving the Employee of the Year, and we at George Ade are incredibly lucky and blessed to have you! Congratulations!

Congratulations to our December Employee Spotlight of the Month, Autumn Blacklidge!

Autumn has worked as an activity assistant here at George Ade for three years and does a variety of work. She not only entertains our residents and leads activities, but she also cleans and maintains the facility finch sanctuary that our residents love to watch and visit.

She loves coffee, lattes, and you will usually see her with a 7 Brew drink. She loves Pumpkin Spice, Chai Latte, and Toasted Marshmallow flavoring and has made her friends love getting 7 Brew drinks now as well. Autumn has an Aussie puppy named Willow, a cat named Latte, and many rabbits, like Ellie, Miko, and Bam Bam whom she loves spending time with and spoiling with treats, toys, and love. She worked a lot on her family’s’ farm raising and milking goats, taking care of chickens and collecting their eggs, and mowing the entire property. Autumn loves to travel and attend rabbit shows, often winning titles and being able to sell rabbits as well.

Autumn is an incredibly dependable worker and often goes above and beyond with our residents. She often sits and talks with them, on and off the clock and brings so much joy to our residents by bringing in her rabbits for visits. Our residents’ eyes light up when they get to pet and hold her rabbits and it truly makes their day so much better and brighter. She knows our residents individually and always makes sure they have the food they want, trays set up how they prefer them, and how they drink their coffee/ hot chocolate.

Thank you for all of your hard work, dedication, and kindness to our staff and residents here at George Ade! We are truly blessed to have you!

Congratulations to our November Employee Spotlight of the Month, Jasmine VanHouten!

Jasmine is a CNA and has worked at George Ade for two years. She has been married to her husband for eight years and has two children. Her favorite food is tacos, and she loves eating out at Applebee’s. Pepsi is her favorite drink.

Jasmine loves playing the piano, taking naps, and going on walks with her family. On a bad day, a simple slushie to drink cheers her up! Her favorite days at work are when she gets to work with Laura and Lisa.

From her first day as a CNA at George Ade, Jasmine exhibited not only the capability of completing all the tasks that ensue with patient care, but also the compassion and empathy that made our residents feel truly comfortable and enjoyed her taking care of them. She is a hard, dependable worker whom staff can count on to make the shift run smoothly, and make our residents have a great night.

The best advice that Jasmine has received is that you will learn something new every day.

Thank you for all your hard work and dedication here at George Ade, Jasmine! We are truly blessed to have you with us!

We apologize for the delay in postings for our Employee Spotlight of the Months!!!

Congratulations to our October Employee Spotlight of the Month, Wendi Haddock!

Wendi is a nurse and has worked at George Ade for six years. She graduated from nursing school in 1990 and has spent most of the past 35 years working in long term care. She has also worked in doctors’ offices and home health care. She says that working at George Ade in long-term care has been a great change from working for corporate-owned facilities.

Wendi has been married to her husband, Russ, for twelve years and has six children, eleven grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Her favorite food is sea food and loves eating at Texas Roadhouse and Mocha Frappes are her favorite drinks. When she is not working, she enjoys painting, sewing, reading, and tending to her flowers, goats, and chickens. Wendi loves hanging out with her grandchildren and on a bad day, talking to her children cheers her up.

Wendi grew up in Newton County and has enjoyed running into and re-connecting with people from her past and whom she hadn’t seen in decades while working at George Ade. One day she watched a CNA hide under Cathy James’ desk and waited for her to sit down. As soon as Cathy sat down, the CNA grabbed her leg, making her scream loudly, thus making Wendi laugh very hard. That was one of her favorite days at work by far! Wendi always greets our residents and staff with a smile and knows their favorite snacks and how they like their meal tray set up. She is always ready to jump in and help anyone in need.

The best advice that Wendi has received is to know your limitations.

Thank you, Wendi, for all your hard work and dedication to our residents at George Ade! We are greatly blessed to have you!
