MD Custom Rx

MD Custom Rx At MD Custom Rx, our compounding pharmacy offers the broadest range of custom prescription options in Wisconsin. Does The Pharmacy Have PCAB Accreditation? Yes!

Here you are treated as an individual and not a diagnosis. From non-standard dosages and combinations of drugs, to custom drug delivery methods like topical creams and lollipops. We provide alternative treatments, which are frequently effective in relieving symptoms of multiple sclerosis, autism, cancer, thyroid problems, and other conditions. Many patients that are allergic to preservatives or dyes find compounding pharmacies extremely helpful. We work with many Hormone Replacement Therapy patients to find remedies right for them. We also offer vitamin supplements and nutrition products that can restore certain deficiencies. MD Custom Rx is here for all of your medicinal needs. At MD Custom Rx our commitment to providing the highest quality compounded prescriptions is demonstrated by holding an accreditation through the Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board (PCAB), a division of Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC). We are one of a select few pharmacies in Wisconsin to hold this distinction in non-sterile compounding and we hold it the longest! MD Custom Rx has proudly been accredited since 2009! When choosing a compounding pharmacy, here are some questions to help ascertain whether the pharmacy in question is devoted to compounding pursuant to the highest quality standards. Working with a compounding pharmacy that has a PCAB accreditation guarantees its quality, giving you peace of mind. What Training Does The Compounding Staff Undergo? Does compounding personnel undergo potency testing on the dosage forms they are validated to compound? Ask to see those test results. How Does The Pharmacy Ascertain The Quality It Provides? The pharmacy should qualify their venders, obtaining and verifying certificates of analysis on all ingredient they use, they should utilize bar code scanning and scale integration, they should perform internal audits on compounding records verifying accuracy, each and every preparation made should meet set quality control/quality assurance parameters.

When our furry loved ones are sick, we want them to get the best care possible.

That’s where compounding comes in. Custom medications can sometimes make all the difference in keeping pets healthy, happy, and stress-free!

Here’s why compounding is often the gold standard in pet care:
- Safe Ingredients – Some inactive ingredients in human medications (like xylitol or propylene glycol) can be toxic to pets. - Compounding ensures every ingredient is pet-safe.
- Easier to Give – No more wrestling with pills! Medications can be flavored (think chicken 🐔 or fish 🐟) or made into liquids or gels for easier dosing.
- Right Dose, Every Time – Pets come in all shapes and sizes! Compounding allows precise dosing made just for them.

At our compounding pharmacy, we work closely with your veterinarian to create personalized medications that make treatment safer and easier for both you and your pet.🐾

What is Metformin?

Metformin is commonly used to help manage PCOS, hirsutism (excess facial or body hair), and diabetes by lowering insulin levels and reducing circulating androgens.

Patients sometimes experience side effects such as nausea, bloating, or diarrhea when taking the medication orally, often leading them to stop treatment.

A topical (transdermal) form of metformin may offer an option for those who can’t tolerate oral medication. Applied to the skin in a permeation-enhancing base, it allows absorption without upsetting the stomach. Topical metformin may also help support both skin and hormone balance.

If you’re considering alternatives to oral metformin, your provider can collaborate with our pharmacists to help determine the best option for your needs.

Living with an Autoimmune Disease

Autoimmune diseases affect nearly 50 million Americans, and about 75% are women. These conditions occur when the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy cells, leading to symptoms that can include:
- Pain & inflammation
- Fatigue
- Joint stiffness
- Skin issues
- Digestive problems

Common conditions include rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, MS, Crohn’s disease, psoriasis, Graves’ disease, Hashimoto’s, and more. Diagnosis can be challenging since symptoms often mimic other conditions; that’s why working closely with a trusted healthcare provider is so important. Talk to our compounding pharmacist for more information about how we can help.

💚 Are You Getting Enough Vitamin K?

Vitamin K is one of the most overlooked nutrients; however, it plays a vital role in your overall health and well-being!

Here’s what it helps support:
- Bone Health – Activates proteins that bind calcium, helping strengthen bones and reduce fracture risk.
- Brain Health – Concentrated in brain tissue, Vitamin K may support memory, cognitive function, and healthy aging.
- Heart Health – Helps regulate inflammation and balance calcium to protect arteries and cardiovascular function.
- Hormone Health – Vitamin K₂ supports estrogen metabolism, which may help ease symptoms of estrogen dominance.
- Anti-Inflammatory Support – K₂ helps regulate inflammation and lower markers linked to heart disease, diabetes, and autoimmune conditions.
- Cellular Health – Promotes healthy cell growth, energy production, and may even support longevity.

While Vitamin K deficiency is rare, certain conditions and medications can affect how well your body absorbs it. Our compounding pharmacists can help personalize your supplement plan to support better balance and health. Have questions about vitamins and supplements? We’re here to help!

Let’s Break the Stigma Around Diabetes

Too often, people living with diabetes face unfair myths and misunderstandings — and these can be just as harmful as the disease itself.

👉 Myth: Diabetes only happens if you eat too much sugar or don’t exercise.
👉 Myth: Only people who are overweight get diabetes.
👉 Myth: People with diabetes can’t eat dessert.
👉 Myth: There’s a cure.

Fact: Diabetes is a complex metabolic condition that affects how the body regulates blood sugar; it’s not caused by a single food, lifestyle, or “bad habit.”

There are different types, including Type 1, Type 2, prediabetes, and gestational diabetes, and each requires individualized care.

At our compounding pharmacy, we’re here to help support people living with diabetes, from medication management to lifestyle education and supplement guidance.

💬 Let’s replace blame with understanding and work together to break the stigma.

Supporting Men’s Health & Confidence

Men’s sexual health is an important part of overall well-being. Issues like erectile dysfunction (ED) and low testosterone (Low T) are common as men age, but they don’t have to be permanent struggles.

ED occurs when it’s difficult to achieve or maintain an er****on firm enough for sexual activity. Causes can include poor blood flow, hormonal changes, stress, or lifestyle factors.

The good news? There are personalized treatment options available. By addressing the root cause and working closely with your provider, compounded medications can be tailored to support your individual needs, helping you regain vitality, confidence, and quality of life.

Chronic inflammation can actually change how your body feels pain.

When inflammation affects pain-sensitive nerves, even gentle touch can hurt (allodynia), or pain can feel stronger and last longer (hyperalgesia).

Over time, this cycle can impact both body and mind, limiting activity, increasing stress, and lowering quality of life.

Our compounding pharmacy works with providers to create customized pain management options that may help patients find relief in a more personalized way. 💙
