NERVE GROWTH AND SUSTAINABILITY

Working our muscles can have a powerful, positive impact on our nerves! When a muscle contracts, it releases biochemical substances known as myokines into the body. Research shows that nerves exposed to myokines can grow up to four times longer than those that aren’t. Even more exciting, a new study found that exercise supports nerve growth not just through chemical changes, but also through physical movement itself.

In the study, neurons that were gently stretched back and forth—similar to the concentric and eccentric phases of weightlifting—grew just as much as neurons exposed to myokines. Regular physical activity truly keeps our nerves happy and healthy!

HOW CHIROPRACTIC WILL HELP YOU REACH YOUR HEALTH GOALS

Sticking to New Year’s health goals can be tough, especially when pain, stiffness, or chronic issues get in the way. Chiropractic care can make these goals more achievable by reducing discomfort, improving mobility, and supporting overall wellness.

Regular chiropractic treatment helps ease aches caused by injuries, poor posture, or long hours spent on devices. Techniques such as spinal adjustments, massage, traction, soft-tissue work, and therapeutic ultrasound can realign the spine, loosen tight tissues, and reduce nerve pressure, making exercise and daily movement easier and more comfortable.

Chiropractic care can also lessen dependence on pain medications by addressing the root cause of pain, improving blood flow, lowering inflammation, and increasing range of motion. Many patients find that they need fewer pain relievers or none at all, after consistent treatment.

For those managing chronic conditions like arthritis, migraines, TMJ issues, asthma, fibromyalgia, or insomnia, chiropractic may offer meaningful support. Improving spinal alignment can ease muscle tension, reduce headache frequency, help lungs expand more fully, and even support healthier blood pressure.

If resolutions tend to fade by February, incorporating chiropractic care may provide the boost needed to stay on track and improve long-term health.

PREPPING FOR THE NEW YEAR

Meal prepping can feel intimidating at first, but once you get used to it, it saves time, money, and unnecessary calories. The key is to begin small. Build meals around a lean protein, a complex carbohydrate, and a vegetable. Keeping those three elements in mind simplifies the planning process.

For efficiency, batch cooking is the way to go, large sheet pans and big pots are essential. You can usually bake your protein, cook your complex carbs on the stovetop, and steam or roast your vegetables. Healthy fats and fruits make great snacks since they’re portable and don’t require reheating.

Preparing 3–4 days’ worth of meals at a time works best. Beyond day four, food can spoil and your taste buds will likely be ready for something new.

Happy prepping😋
