⛈️ Thunderstorm Safety Reminder ⛈️

Storms are rolling in fast, bringing heavy rain, lightning, and dangerous flooding. Please keep safety top of mind:

🚗 Never drive into flooded roads — even a few inches of moving water can sweep a vehicle away.
⚠️ Turn Around, Don’t Drown — it’s not worth the risk.
🌩️ Stay indoors during lightning and avoid open areas or tall objects.
📱 Keep weather alerts on and stay updated on changing conditions.

Your safety and your family’s safety come first. If you’re unsure, play it safe and wait it out.

Stay alert. Stay prepared. Stay safe

🌿☀️ Enjoy the Outdoors—Protect Yourself from Ticks! 🦃🍄🎣

With the nice weather here in Missouri, many of us are out turkey hunting, mushroom hunting, fishing, and enjoying the woods. While you’re out there, don’t forget—ticks are active too!

🛑 Tick Bite Prevention Tips:
• Wear long sleeves and long pants when possible
• Tuck pants into your socks or boots
• Use insect repellent with DEET or permethrin
• Stick to cleared trails and avoid tall grass
• Do a full body check (and check kids & pets) after being outdoors

🔍 Found a Tick? Here’s What to Do:
• Use fine-tipped tweezers to grasp the tick as close to the skin as possible
• Pull upward steadily—don’t twist or jerk
• Clean the bite area with soap and water or alcohol
• Dispose of the tick safely (flush it or seal it in a bag)

⚠️ Watch for Symptoms:
If you develop a rash, fever, fatigue, or flu-like symptoms in the days or weeks after a bite, contact your healthcare provider.

Enjoy the outdoors safely and make the most of this beautiful Linn County Missouri weather! 🌳

This week, Linn County Ambulance District Training Center proudly recognizes National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.

Behind every page, every radio transmission, and every call for help is a dispatcher who shows up with calm, compassion, and professionalism when people need it most. You are often the first voice heard in an emergency and the steady presence that helps bring order to some of the hardest moments in a person’s life.

Your work is not always seen, but it is deeply felt. Our crews depend on you. Our communities depend on you. And we are grateful for the countless ways you support emergency response every single day.

Thank you for your patience, your strength, your heart, and your service. We appreciate you this week and every week.

This past week, our team at Linn County Ambulance District had the opportunity to host Emergency Pediatric Care (EPC) training through our partnership with The ACADemy - Adair County Ambulance.

Pediatric calls can be some of the most challenging we face in EMS, and having the right training is critical. EPC helps our providers sharpen their skills, build confidence, and stay prepared to care for our youngest patients when seconds matter most.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to bring this level of training to our crews and continue investing in the care we provide to our community. Training like this ensures we’re ready for whatever call comes in—no matter the patient’s age.

Thank you to the instructors who traveled to Linn County and helped make this training a success!

For the past two months, we have shared what it takes to provide round-the-clock emergency medical care to our community. From the $40,000 cardiac monitors that act as a tiny emergency room to the 2,500 calls our medics respond to each year, your safety is our top priority.
Tomorrow is Election Day. As you head to the polls to vote on the Use Tax proposal, we want to leave you with these final facts:
🚑 It is Fair: The Use Tax levels the playing field, ensuring big out-of-state online retailers pay the same rate as our local mom-and-pop shops.
🚑 No Double Tax: You will never pay both a sales tax and a use tax.
🚑 100% Local: Every single penny from the Use Tax stays right here with the Linn County Ambulance District. It does not go to the state or federal government.
This proposal is not a tax increase on local shoppers. It is the key to maintaining critical staffing, replacing aging equipment, and protecting our rapid response times when seconds count.
Remember to cast your ballot tomorrow, April 7th!

🚑 Support Local Business. Support Community Safety. 🚑
Hear from Monica Baker, local small business owner, co-owner of the historic Tooey’s on Main Street, and Linn County Ambulance District Board member, as she breaks down the facts about the Use Tax on our ballot.
Here is what you need to know:
✅ It levels the playing field: It ensures out-of-state online megastores pay the same exact rate as our hometown merchants.
✅ It is NOT a double tax: If you pay sales tax, you do not pay use tax. Simple as that!
✅ It saves lives: It gives our local ambulance crews the stable funding they need for crucial equipment, training, and fast response times.
It’s fair for business and vital for our safety. Watch the video to learn more!

When you call 911, you expect a fast, fully-equipped response. But how do we actually fund those life-saving seconds?
This graphic breaks it down! The proposed Use Tax captures revenue from out-of-state online shopping. That money acts as the "key" to keeping our ambulances stocked, our training top-notch, and our crews ready for your family's emergency. 🚑
Take a look and see how it works!
