Aurora Schuck loved her car so much she never wanted to part with it. When she passed in 1989, her husband Raymond made sure her wish was carried out to the letter: to be buried in her beloved 1976 red Cadillac Eldorado. To make it happen, he bought 14 adjoining plots at Riverview Cemetery in Aurora, Indiana. It was enough space for the convertible and her casket. With the top down, a crane gently lowered the car into a custom vault. Then Aurora herself was placed inside, seatbelted in for the final journey.

Thirteen years later, when Raymond died, his cremated remains were piped down into the same vault, reunited with the woman and the car he’d loved. In case you were wondering, that Cadillac reportedly had only 42,700 miles on it when it went into the ground.
