🤰A woman’s body is naturally designed to grow a baby and give birth. The three body balancing positions developed by Spinning Babies are all great stretches you can do to prepare you and your baby for birth.
The Jiggle – 2-20 minutes each side. This creates muscle relaxation and improves circulation. Have the knees and ankles supported and make sure muscles are relaxed. This allows for fluid movement within the muscle tissue.
The Forward-Leaning Inversion – This lengthens and untwists ligaments in the lower uterus and cervix to create space. Move slowly and focus on breathing. Start in a kneeling position with head and shoulders high. Walk arms and elbow down to floor. Hang the head freely and tuck chin. Take 3 slow breaths, loosening the belly but keeping the shoulders strong. Slowly walk hands back up ending in high starting position. To exit position, swing feet out together. *Do not do if being upside down may provoke a medical condition such as high blood pressure, glaucoma, or a recent head injury or surgery.*
The Side-Lying Release – This lengthens and softens the pelvic floor to ease discomfort and promote optimal fetal positioning. Start on your side at the edge of the bed with your head supported on a pillow, legs straight, hips and shoulders stacked (not tilted). The helper stands in front of them with curved hands on the front and top of hip. Lift upper leg, keeping lower leg straight and toes flexed toward the knee. Allow the leg to hang off the bed while helper keeps hips stacked. Allow the weight of the leg to stretch pelvic muscles for 2-3 minutes or until muscle release. Repeat on the other side.
👥 It’s important to have assistance with these positions. This way, you can ensure you’re doing them correctly and safely. Having a pillow and an elevated area are also needed!
