Blood clots aren’t always random. Sometimes there’s a genetic predisposition called thrombophilia — and understanding it can help you make smarter decisions.

We’re talking about what it is (and what it isn’t) in our next Ask the Expert group.

Feeling cold? ❄️ When temperatures drop, your arteries actually constrict to help your body conserve heat. This is a normal response, but for some people — especially those with peripheral artery disease (or PAD) — it can worsen symptoms like pain or discomfort in the hands, legs, or feet.

So if colder weather brings new or worsening symptoms, it’s important to pay attention to your vascular health and take steps to stay warm. Follow for more ❤️

Myth busted: it wasn’t the wine — it was lifestyle. 🍷🍷🍷 For years, we heard that a daily glass of red wine was “heart healthy.” But the science never proved it was the wine itself — people in those studies also exercised more, smoked less, and had better access to healthcare.

More recent research tells a different story: alcohol — including red wine — can increase the risk of high blood pressure, abnormal heart rhythms, stroke, and heart failure.
Bottom line:
❤️ If you don’t drink, don’t start for your heart.
🍷 If you do enjoy an occasional glass, moderation matters.
💊 Red wine isn’t heart medicine in a glass.

Can getting sick raise your blood pressure? 🤧⬆️

Yes — illness and some cold meds can temporarily raise BP. If you notice headaches, chest discomfort, or vision changes, talk with your care team or pharmacist about safer options.

So if you’re feeling sick during cold season, be a little extra mindful of your blood pressure. Follow for more tips ❤️

Obesity isn’t just about a number on the scale. It influences inflammation, blood pressure, and how your blood vessels function, often years before symptoms appear.

Understanding what’s happening inside your arteries isn’t about blame or shame.
It’s about physiology, risk, and giving people the information they need to protect their long-term vascular health.

A blood clot is often treated in the hospital — but many people leave with more questions than answers.
Questions about symptoms, medications, activity, and what’s normal moving forward.

Our Blood Clot Support Group is a space to ask those questions, learn from experts, and connect with others who understand what you’re navigating.
