November has a way of nudging us back into ourselves.
Back into the truth that we’re allowed to evolve, to release, to begin again… even here, even now.

This month, let yourself move at the pace your spirit is asking for. Let yourself lean into what feels nourishing and step away from what feels heavy. Let yourself dream a little, soften a little, trust a little more.

And if life is inviting you to shift? Remember that growth doesn’t always roar, sometimes it whispers. Sometimes it looks like rest, like choosing ease, like giving yourself permission to take up space.

We’re walking with you through all of it. Gratitude always!
See you on the mat, Urban Fam. 💛

Yesterday was a big portal day, but this time of year always invites reflection. ✨ Take a moment to recognize how far you’ve come. The lessons learned, the shifts made, the ways you’ve grown even when it wasn’t easy. When you walk a more centered path, things begin to simplify on their own. What once felt chaotic starts to make sense. What once felt heavy starts to lift. There’s more space for gratitude in there!

Keep aligning. Keep evolving. Everything that’s meant for your higher self will meet you there.

We’re coming together to gather and give 🇯🇲🖤

The kickoff event is today at Café Rue Dix during their happy hour for folks not attending class tonight— come through, connect, and contribute as we begin this collective effort to support those impacted by Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica.

Beyond today, Urban Asanas will be collecting donations through December 12 to send down in support of the ongoing relief work. Our island family is still recovering, and every act of care helps.

Bring non-perishable food, toiletries, gently used/new clothing, and medical supplies — anything that can bring comfort and support to those in need. There will be a donation bin at the studio where you can drop in and drop off during class times and open hours.

While we may be in retrograde, we can still stay rooted in gratitude. Yes, communication may feel off and things might not go as planned BUT instead of spiraling, take it as an invitation to pause, breathe, and respond with intention. The universe is simply slowing you down so you can realign. Remember: good things are still coming, always. Have a lovely Tuesday!

Some of us are 5 days in, some of us are 10, but no matter where you are in the gratitude challenge, remember this: you have the grace, the strength, the joy, and the love within you to keep going. This applies to whatever you’re facing in life as well. 💛

Making the necessary changes and adjustments is possible. Set your sights on alignment, not perfection, and take it one day at a time.

There is space for you here: in this world, in this community, and right here at Urban Asanas. 🌿

On this , we lean into gratitude for the spaces that hold us and remind us that we all belong. May we continue to make room for one another; to hold and be held, to breathe and to be.

You are seen. You are valued. You have space here.

✨ Sitting in gratitude can make your soul sparkle. ✨
Take a breath, slow down, and search for the little things that make your heart smile: a warm cup of tea, a kind word, the way light hits your window. If you do just one thing today that makes tomorrow a bit brighter for you, isn’t it worth the try? 💛

Our can drive continues! Drop off is during any class period. Check Union for our daily schedule.

You matter more than you know.On this day of our gratitude challenge, take a moment to turn that gratitude inward.
Give thanks for the love, light, and energy you bring into this world, even on the days you forget it’s shining. 🌞

Every breath, every act of care, every small kindness ripples farther than you can see. Honor yourself today. You are worthy, you are radiant, and your presence is a gift. 💛

Sit with it. 🍃
As we move into a quieter period of the year, it’s natural to start reflecting, asking if we’re doing enough, being enough, feeling enough. Sit with the discomfort. There will always be internal conflict; it’s part of who we are as imperfect, evolving beings.

The goal isn’t to silence it. It’s to find peace and gratitude despite it.
Keep the challenge going: what are you grateful for today?

🙏🏾 Our 21 Days of Gratitude starts today! Each day, take a moment to write down 1–3 things you’re grateful for. At the end, you’ll receive a free yoga class, our little way of saying thank you for showing up with heart.

If yesterday taught us anything, it’s that our hope is valid and valuable. We still have a ways to go, but today we give thanks for growth, for community, and for the possibility of change. Have a lovely Wednesday!!

🗳️ Today is Election Day and a reminder that our voices matter, but so does our peace. Do what you can, and remember that it’s okay to engage OR disengage when needed. Take care of your energy, check in with your community, and know that local elections shape the spaces we live in BUT politics is not the only form of community care. How we show up for one another every day counts too. As always, you can come unwind with us on the mat. Have a fabulous Tuesday! 💛

We’re hosting a Can Drive for Thanksgiving!!! 🧡

All collected food will be distributed at Seeds of Liberation’s monthly food distro at Restoration Plaza on Saturday, Nov 22nd.

The breath + beats of the street.

Jyll Hubbard-Salk decided to open Urban Asanas in her neighborhood of Crown Heights, Brooklyn as a space for people of all walks of life and backgrounds to come together, practice yoga and breathe.

Since 2012, Urban Asanas has cultivated a diverse and growing community, offering many styles of yoga and workshops to practitioners of all levels. In 2017, Jyll moved the studio three doors down to the corner of Nostrand Avenue and Sterling Place, expanding into a larger, beautiful space featuring bamboo floors and lots of natural light.

Urban Asanas continues to focus on building community and making yoga fun and accessible to all. The studio offers multiple donation based classes every week, free yoga mat rentals and discounted rates for seniors and high school students. Classes range from high intensity Power with a focus on alignment and building strength to 60 minute donation based Community classes offering a Vinyasa flow. Also on our weekly schedule are prenatal yoga and restorative, slow moving Yin classes. In addition, we organize monthly workshops bringing different forms of wellness, yoga and self care to our community.

Whether you are a seasoned yogi or have never tried yoga before, the doors of Urban Asanas are open and we look forward to meeting you.
