We deploy accredited, onsite firefighter screening nationwide, including ultrasound, CT scans, bloodwork, advanced cancer testing, skin assessments, and physician follow-up.

We also have a grant assistant on our team to help departments with the application process during this limited window.

We want to extend a massive "𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝗬𝗼𝘂" to the departments and municipalities across the state that partnered with the UDS Maine State Program. By bringing hospital-grade diagnostics directly to your departments, we’ve eliminated the barriers to life-saving preventive care.

From Bangor to York Village, and everywhere in between, our mission was to provide first responders and municipal workers with the most advanced screening tools available.

The Core of the Program: 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗘𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝘆 at every stop, a major focus was our Stress Echocardiography. For those in high-stress occupations, a resting EKG isn't enough. Our hospital-grade Stress Echo allows us to visualize how the heart functions under exertion, identifying potential issues before they become emergencies.

𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝟯𝟲𝟬° 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴:

𝗙𝗮𝘁𝘁𝘆 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 (𝗠𝗔𝗦𝗟𝗗) affects millions worldwide, yet effective therapies remain limited.

New research highlights 𝗺𝗶𝗥-𝟵𝟯 as a key genetic culprit driving liver fat accumulation and metabolic dysfunction. In rodent studies, niacin (vitamin B3) suppressed miR-93, activated SIRT1, and improved liver health — offering a promising, repurposable therapy.

While these findings are early, they point toward molecularly targeted interventions for fatty liver disease, beyond traditional symptom management.

A recent editorial in JAMA Internal Medicine and Nature Medicine raised an important question:
𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝗿 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻?

The takeaway isn’t that cancer screening is the problem — 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀. The rise in early-onset cancer has sparked concern about overdiagnosis, false positives, and unnecessary downstream care. That risk is real when screening is done without context, physician oversight, or a clear pathway for interpretation and follow-up. But the answer is not less screening. The answer is more precise screening.

At 𝗨𝗗𝗦, we’ve spent a decade building a model specifically for high-risk populations like firefighters, law enforcement, and first responders. For these professionals, exposure history and cumulative stress change the equation.

𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀:
- 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸-𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Moving away from one-size-fits-all testing.
- 𝗠𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀: Combining imaging, blood biomarkers, and clinical context.
- 𝗣𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: Ensuring every result has a structured pathway for interpretation and follow-up.
- 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Detecting disease when outcomes can be changed while avoiding reflexive, unnecessary intervention.

Early detection saves lives when it’s done right—with the right tools and the right oversight for the right population. This is the future of cancer screening.
