The path of loving and caring for a depressed child in modern society is often one of loneliness, helplessness, guilt, and fear. It involves watching a child that we love unconditionally go through deep and often indescribably emotional and mental pain. It may involve financial troubles, conflicts with a partner or other family members, and a feeling that mental health issues have taken over our entire lives. In giving our unconditional love and constant care to our child, we may end up neglecting our own mental health and needs. We may find ourselves trying to pour from an empty cup.
Shamanism utilizes non-ordinary conscious states and the wisdom and healing power of the natural world to facilitate a path of healing. The Shamanic path is not about finding ways to be dealt better cards, but learning to find meaning, empowerment, and wisdom in whatever hand we’re dealt. It is about expanding our container to realize that we are truly big enough to contain the darkness and light, the pain and sorrow, the highs and lows of life all at once. It is a journey into the darkest parts of ourselves, the profoundest depths of our own truth, and the deepest layers of the Earth.
This summer we will offer a guided conscious journey of reshaping our relationship with ourselves, our children, and the Earth. Embracing the wisdom of our plant, animal, and elemental allies, we offer a guided path for shifting our consciousness, widening our gates of perception, and returning to the dreaming of Earth as a conscious system. We will learn the wisdom of the kinship worldview, shared by many Indigenous people around the world, that focuses on community, cooperation, oneness, understanding ourselves as nature, having trust in the universe, and living a socially purposeful life. Through this process, we are able to find empowerment and wisdom in the darkest of places, both in our own journeys and in our paths in relation to our children.
