🧀✨ Happy National Cheese Lovers Day! ✨🧀

Calling all cheese-loving moms—yes, you can enjoy your favorite Brie, Gouda, or cheddar while breastfeeding! 🍼💛

But if your little one shows signs of a dairy sensitivity, you might want to keep an eye out for these symptoms:
🧷 Smelly or mucusy p**p
💚 Green stools
🤢 Excessive spit-up
🎈 Gassiness or fussiness
🚼 Diaper rash or baby acne

Not all babies are affected by dairy in mom’s diet, but if you’re noticing these signs, it might be worth a closer look. 💡 A quick consult with an IBCLC can help guide you through figuring it out!

In the meantime, go ahead and celebrate your love of cheese responsibly. 🧀😉

🌱💧 The Importance of Hydration for Breastfeeding Moms 💧🌱

Did you know that staying hydrated is key to supporting your milk supply? 🍼 As a breastfeeding mom, your body is working hard to provide the best nutrition for your baby, and proper hydration plays a huge role in this process!

Why hydration matters:
1. Milk Production: Staying hydrated helps ensure that your body has the necessary fluids to produce milk. Dehydration can reduce milk supply and affect your energy levels.
2. Boosts Energy: Breastfeeding can be exhausting, and hydration helps maintain your energy levels throughout the day. It can also help with fatigue that comes with those nighttime feedings.
3. Supports Your Body: Hydration helps your body recover post-delivery, aids digestion, and supports overall well-being during the breastfeeding journey.

Tips for staying hydrated:
• Carry a water bottle with you at all times. Keep it close while you nurse or pump!
• Aim for at least 8 glasses of water a day (and more if you’re feeling thirsty or are nursing often).
• Add natural flavors like lemon or cucumber to make water more appealing.
• Drink water-rich foods like fruits and veggies (think watermelon, cucumbers, and oranges).

💧💖 Hydration is just one of the many ways to take care of yourself while breastfeeding. Your health matters, and staying hydrated is a simple yet effective step toward supporting your milk supply and overall wellness.

🩷 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🩷

As an IBCLC, I’m here to support all of you on your breastfeeding journey, but today I want to remind you about something equally important: breast health.

Did you know that breastfeeding can reduce your risk of breast cancer? Yet, even if you’re breastfeeding, it’s crucial to stay proactive about your breast health. Here are some tips:

✨ Know your breasts: Regularly check for any changes, like lumps, dimpling, or ni**le discharge.
✨ Get your screenings: If you’re over 40 or at higher risk, talk to your healthcare provider about mammograms.
✨ Stay informed: Whether you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, or weaning, early detection is key.

Breastfeeding is a journey that takes a lot of care and love, and taking care of your own health is part of that journey too. 💕 Let’s take this month to remind ourselves and each other to prioritize self-care and get those check-ups.

If you have any questions about how breast health impacts breastfeeding, don’t hesitate to reach out!
