IN OBSERVANCE OF YOM KIPPUR

This evening marks the beginning of Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, the most sacred day in the Jewish calendar. Coming ten days after Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur brings the High Holy Days to a close with a time of deep reflection, prayer, and atonement.

Often called the “Sabbath of Sabbaths,” Yom Kippur invites Jewish communities to pause, look inward, and seek forgiveness within ourselves, from one another, and from God. While this sacred observance is rooted in Jewish tradition, its call to reflection, reconciliation, and renewal speaks to the shared human journey of growth and compassion.

As the day concludes with the sounding of the shofar, we stand with our Jewish colleagues, students, and community members in honoring this sacred tradition. May this time of reflection bring peace, healing, and hope for the year ahead, and may it inspire us all to lead with compassion, understanding, and resilience.
