A truly healing space begins behind the scenes.
At Red Moon, we believe client care starts with a work culture grounded in trust, presence, and growth. We practice assuming the best in one another, maintaining healthy boundaries alongside genuine care, and addressing challenges through creativity rather than punitive actions.
Clients often remark that this culture of respect and collaboration is felt the moment they walk through the door.

At the start of the year, it can be tempting to set resolutions meant to “fix” ourselves. But research and lived experience suggest these often fail because they’re rooted in self-criticism. Instead, we invite you to consider intentions. Intentions aren’t about rigid behaviors you can succeed or fail at—they’re about the qualities and feelings you want to cultivate. This might look like creating a vision board, walking quietly in the woods or Prospect Park, meditating, receiving bodywork, or taking a restorative class. When your intention is a felt state—calm, clarity, resilience—it can gently guide your choices throughout the year.

A Founder’s Note

As 2025 comes to a close, I’m reflecting on a year of reconnection and meaningful growth at Red Moon Wellness. One of our biggest milestones was launching a new website that better reflects our values and our work. Just as important for me personally was returning to seeing clients more regularly—for herbal medicine, infant massage, birth support, and consultation work—which reaffirmed why this work continues to matter so deeply.

This year, a clear theme emerged across our practice: many clients arrive navigating complex, interconnected symptoms. In herbal consultations, I’ve worked with a growing number of people facing hormonal imbalance and nervous system dysregulation, often after seeing multiple providers. Helping them understand what’s happening in their bodies, supporting root-level healing, and empowering them to advocate for integrated care has been incredibly rewarding.

From a massage perspective, we continue to see how stress, anxiety, trauma, and overwork live in the body—especially for busy parents and caregivers. Our therapists do beautiful work helping clients reconnect with their bodies and support nervous system balance. Many leave feeling lighter, calmer, and more at ease, with benefits that often extend to sleep, digestion, mood, and overall energy.

We were also encouraged by growing interest in infant massage this year. Shared training sessions with our team and families allowed us to witness immediate, meaningful changes in babies’ movement and comfort—powerful reminders of how effective gentle, attentive care can be.

Looking ahead to 2026, we’re excited to thoughtfully reintroduce several special add-on offerings, including cupping therapy, hot stones, and sinus relief treatments.

As we approach our 18th year, I’m deeply grateful to our clients for trusting us with their care and continuing to invest in their wellbeing with us. I’m equally grateful to our dedicated team whose care and commitment make this work possible. It’s an honor to continue growing together.

Warmly,
Lena DeGloma

Is massage supposed to hurt?
The answer? It depends. There is “hurt in a good way” like a strong stretch that almost hurts but feels so good at the same time, and then there is pain that is really just indicative of tissue injury. Some have the idea of “no pain, no pain” or “if it doesn’t hurt it’s not working” but this is simply not true at all - hurting too much will cause your muscles to protectively tighten against the work - not beneficial. It should only hurt in a “delicious” way that you can relax into. Everyone’s tissue and nervous systems have different “set points” for where that line is so it’s important to communicate with your therapist about this. While skilled hands and experience and intuition can get it right (or very close to right) a high percent of the time - your set points on what crosses a threshold as “bad pain” are a subjective experience within your nervous system and not something your therapist can palpably feel in your tissue, so communication is key.
