We do this by ensuring that all pregnant, postpartum, and parenting people of color have access to high-quality, holistic doula care and services regardless of their ability to pay. We provide doula training and services, offer community education, and advocate for policy change to support reproductive and birth justice.

Ancient Song's full spectrum community-based doula certification comprises the essentials in evidence-based care from pregnancy health to postnatal health, focusing on comprehensive support that focuses on the cultural and traditional aspects of birthing along with the medical information needed to assist the laboring person and family with the tools that they need to make informed decisions about the care they are receiving.

International Women's Day exists because of the gender inequities that persist across the globe. It's a day of action that calls for supporting women globally and what better way to support women than during the time they need it most — pregnancy and postpartum.

At Ancient Song, we are working to eliminate maternal and infant mortality and morbidity among low-income Black and Latinx people by providing culturally competent doula trainings, offering access to high quality holistic doula care, and advocating for policy change.

Spready the word! 📢 The Birth Institute's universal application is now open! ‼️

Ancient Song Doula Services is now accepting applications for the 2027 cohorts of the Birth Justice Institute (BJI) and the Birth Equity Taskforce.

Applicants may apply to one or both programs, as each plays a distinct but interconnected role in advancing intersectional, community-led birth justice across New York and New Jersey.

The 2027 Institute runs January–November 2027

Because patriarchy has created the system we live in now, the one that has led to declining birth rates globally. Patriarchal values conflate perfectly with capitalist values, and both systems prioritise economic growth above all else."

In a recent piece for Glamour, Hannah Shewan Stevens makes the case for dismantling the patriarchy and ushering in matriarchy instead.
