Our struggle is interconnected therefore so is our liberation. ✊🏿

Black history cannot be isolated. When we begin to examine it we will understand how Anti-Blackness is at the center of our struggles globally. We can stop simply observing the history and begin using it as a blueprint for the way toward a truly liberated and decolonized way of living.

In the words of Malcolm X, "As long as we think that we should get Mississippi straightened out before we worry about the Congo, you'll never get Mississippi straightened out – not until you start realizing your connection with the Congo".

Who needs superstitions when this is our reality? πŸ™ƒ πŸ™ƒ The United States is the ONLY high-income country with no mandated paid maternity leave and we have the highest maternal mortality rate which is even higher for Black and Latinx communities.

The constant stress of surviving systems that weren’t built for us, protecting our children in a world that feels increasingly unsafe, navigating racism, economic pressure, medical gaslighting, and political attacks on our bodies.

Allostatic load is what happens when stress never gets a chance to shut off. It settles into the body.
It shows up as exhaustion, anxiety, complications in pregnancy, postpartum challenges, and chronic illness.

This isn’t individual failure. It’s structural neglect. It's been happening for centuries. Naming it is part of how we survive it.

ICE's intimidation tactics and physical violence has left an especially vulnerable population at risk - pregnant women. Scared to go to their routine prenatal visits or even to leave the house to get groceries, pregnant women are hiding out at home without the proper care and nutrition they need. If this was about protecting women and children, this wouldn't be happening. Full stop.

February 7th is National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. Black women carry a disproportionate burden of HIV diagnoses in this country but it doesn't have to be that way. This HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, we encourage you to follow and support the organizations doing the work to combat this epidemic like SisterLove, Inc and Women with a Vision, Inc. ❀️

They have designed approaches that we know are effective in changing these statistics, starting with simply normalizing testing. Make testing accessible through mobile units and community pop ups. Reduce the stigma! Train people so they're culturally competent and trauma informed. These are the preventative approaches that can make a world of difference. Check out their pages and websites for additional resources and information on how to get involved. ✊🏿
