If you’re celebrating with fruit, here’s how to keep your braces happy while enjoying the holiday:

🍓 Braces-Friendly Fruits (Best Choices):
• Bananas
• Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries
• Watermelon & cantaloupe
• Mango & papaya
• Peaches & nectarines (soft or sliced)
• Kiwi
• Apples or pears cut into small pieces
• Cooked or baked fruits (like stewed apples)

🚫 Fruits to Be Careful With (or Avoid):
• Whole hard apples or pears (biting straight in = broken brackets)
• Dried fruits: dates, figs, raisins, apricots, cranberries
• Fruit leather or fruit snacks
• Pineapple (fibrous + tough on wires)
• Citrus wedges with thick membranes (can pull on brackets)
• Fruits with pits or hard seeds
• Candied or caramel-coated fruits

🦷 Popcorn particles trapped in braces cause plaque buildup leading to cavities.
🦷 Sharp edges may irritate your gums and cause pain.
🦷 Cleaning braces after popcorn is essential but takes extra effort.
