👉🏾Teacher Spotlight: Michelle Addo-Chajet 🔥

Michelle is a yoga and pilates instructor based in Brooklyn, New York. She earned her 500-hour yoga certification from Abhaya Yoga under the guidance of Tara Glazier and completed Shieri Shelly Yamafuji’s Mindful Pilates comprehensive mat training in 2024. Her movement practice became consistent in 2010 upon moving to NYC, finding donation-based yoga and pilates classes an accessible way to explore the city. As a teacher, Michelle strives to empower students of all backgrounds to explore the nuance and strengths of their physical and subtle bodies through encouraging, yet technical, practice. With sequences structured around rational progression, students will find an emphasis on alignment and modifications for their unique physicality.

Goodbye September, Hello October 🍂

As the air cools and the days grow shorter, October invites us to pause, ground, and realign. At Dou Yoga, we welcome this new month as an opportunity to slow down, reconnect with ourselves, and embrace practices that nourish both body and mind.

This month, we’re excited to offer workshops that invite you to deepen your practice, connect with community, and carry fresh energy into the season ahead.

Let’s step into October together, with presence, intention, and care. 🍁

🌅 Teacher Spotlight: Marge Dunn 🌿

Marge Dunn is a multi-hyphenate artist and educator who weaves together a lifelong love of athletics and introspection into a playful, grounding yoga practice. In 2018, she traveled to Koh Phangan, Thailand, to complete her RYT 200 training.

Her classes are rooted in foundational alignment and simple philosophies, inviting students to explore body mechanics from fresh perspectives so they can flow with freedom and ease. Whether you’re looking for an energizing vinyasa flow or simply a safe space to rest, all vibrations are welcome in Marge’s class.

✨ From Marge:
“Shout out to my Early Birds! There is something so special about sharing sunrise with a consistent group of lovely human beans.”

🌞 Catch Marge every Tuesday & Thursday at 7am, the perfect way to start your day. Come move, breathe, and maybe even nap with Marge, she’ll meet you exactly where you are. 💛

Just as the trees release their leaves, we too are invited to release what no longer serves us. The Fall Equinox tomorrow Monday, opens the door to reflection: What are you ready to let go of, and what seeds will you plant for the months ahead?

✨ Today’s teacher spotlight: Kimo! ✨

Kimo Gray is a yoga teacher who is on a journey to infuse courage, grace and ease within his community. Come to Kimo’s class to build strength, connect with community and have fun. Together through the practice, we will examine the space between action and reaction. Kimo is a 500hr RYT (Arise Yoga, 2019 & Yogamaya, 2025). In his free time you can find him rock climbing, attending theater and watching Survivor.

Dou is a special place, because of the people. Everyone is welcoming and kind, and brings their own vibe to the practice. I love when people make their own choices in the room; this always fills me with joy and gratitude.

Kimo’s regular class is Thursday 6:30pm Balance & EmPower, also he is hosting a yoga retreat this November 13–16 at Wildsong Gaian Sanctuary. Don’t miss this opportunity!🤗💕

✨ Dou Community Classes ✨

🧘 Yoga — Tuesday 5pm
💪 Pilates — Wednesday 5pm
🧘 Yoga — Thursday 5pm
🌙 Yoga — Saturday 6:30pm

Our community classes are donation-based (pay what you can) and led by different teachers, often new graduates. They’re a space to move, explore, and grow together.

🌟 Tonight, Emanuela .colella, a recent TT graduate, is teaching, come support her and join our community! And, here’s what she experienced from our training…🙏🏻💕

“My journey at Dou has been incredibly transformative. I joined the training to deepen my knowledge of yoga and to find support with stress and anxiety and it gave me so much more than I expected. It has been an incredible experience, sometimes a little tough, as I faced intense emotions, but it helped me to learn not only about yoga postures and philosophy, but also about patience, resilience, and self-awareness. I’ve learned the power of breath, the value of patience, self awareness and how grounding it feels to return to the body when life gets overwhelming.
The community at Dou has also been such an important part of this journey. Sharing this path with others, feeling supported, and seeing everyone’s growth has been truly inspiring. Looking back, I feel grateful for every challenge and every moment of joy during this training. It has opened a new chapter in my life, where I feel more connected, more centered, and more at peace with myself :)”
