✔️ Kids under 5 shouldn’t sled alone
✔️ Helmets help protect against head injuries
✔️ Stay away from roads, water, and obstacles

🚨 Flu cases are surging across New York.

Dr. Eitan Dickman, our Chair of Emergency Medicine, shared with News 12 Brooklyn's Rob Flaks how our clinicians are caring for a surge of patients–especially children–with severe flu symptoms. He reminds families to stay home if they feel sick and to seek care if fever doesn’t improve, breathing becomes difficult, or symptoms worsen.

❤️ Bringing Heart Health to the Community ❤️

Our cardiology team partnered with the Center for Family Life food pantry to provide free blood pressure screenings and heart health education to community members who often face barriers to receive proper care. With support from the Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS), we were able to meet people where they are, help families understand their numbers, and share simple steps to protect their hearts.​

On December 17, Maimonides Health hosted Healthy Hearts for the Holidays, a cardiology-focused wellness event all about giving your heart a check-up before the holidays. From relaxing yoga sessions and visits with therapy dogs from The Good Dog Foundation to free blood pressure screenings and heart-conscious food, guests experienced multiple ways to care for their hearts in one place.​

🎉 A year of care that’s changing lives across Brooklyn.

We’re celebrating the first anniversary of our Weight Management Center—Brooklyn’s most comprehensive weight reduction program.

In our Center’s first year, we delivered personalized weight management care through 1,000+ patient visits and 200+ bariatric surgeries, helping patients collectively lose more than 1,000 pounds. Many experienced improved quality of life and were able to reduce or stop diabetes medications.

“It’s been one of the best decisions I ever made,” said patient Carlos Casanas, who has lost nearly 100 pounds since surgery. “I have more energy, I’m off medications, and I feel like myself again.”

✨ Holiday magic for some of Brooklyn’s bravest kids.

Last week, kids receiving cancer care at our hospital came together with their families and care teams for our annual holiday party, a heart-warming gathering that honored the courage and bravery of young patients. The evening featured a magic show and a special visit from Santa.

🎁 Through our Operation Gift Giving Program, each child received gifts selected from their own wish list, thanks to the generosity of Maimonides staff. Each year, the celebration is made possible through the support of the The Eugene Zitwer Foundation, Inc., Little Golden Light and Toys for Hospitalized Children, helping create moments of joy for patients and families.
