StartCare in the Community!

Our StartCare advocates arrived in Albany for our 4th Annual Lobby Day, using their voices to spotlight the urgent need for sustained funding and expanded community programming. Together, we are shaping policy, strengthening care, and driving real impact.

This is what commitment looks like in action!

StartCare was proud to join the 7th Annual Legislative Breakfast & Town Hall in East Harlem this January, hosted by Senator Cordell Cleare, EHCHC, and HSCEH.

Community members, service providers, and elected leaders came together to talk about what matters most: access to healthcare, food security, and immigration support. Conversations like these help bring community voices to the table and turn shared priorities into action!

We’re grateful to be part of the work that strengthens partnerships and supports healthier communities.

StartCare is proud to honor the memory and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. On this day, we reflect on Dr. King’s call to advance health equity, dignity, and compassionate, community-based care. His words remind us that injustice in healthcare demands action. Together, we can continue this work. Your support helps expand access to care and healing for individuals and families who need it most.

For 56 years, we have remained committed to community-centered, holistic healthcare and expanding access across New York City. Being recognized for this work is deeply meaningful to our team and the communities we serve. Thank you!

Congratulations to all of this year’s honorees. It’s an honor to be recognized alongside such impactful changemakers.

Human rights live in the everyday essentials: the food we share, the care we provide, and the dignity we protect. At StartCare, we honor this belief by expanding opportunities to provide our participants with access to food and holistic healthcare.

One example is our annual Thanksgiving meals, where every clinic is supplied with hot, nourishing food during a season when many of our most vulnerable community members are often overlooked. This year, we’re especially grateful to Uber for helping make this possible through their generous sponsorship and commitment to community care.

Giving Tuesday is here, and you can help save lives!

This video features George Jones, our Peer Engagement Coordinator, speaking at our recent 56th Anniversary celebration. George is a powerful example of how our Peer Outreach Team meets people where they are and provides real support when it matters most.

Your Giving Tuesday gift helps expand this life-changing work by providing first aid kits, food, water, and a lifeline to care for those facing substance use and mental health challenges.
