Our Story
HYPNOBIRTHING® Build confidence, learn practical skills, connect to your baby. A comprehensive, yet simple, childbirth eduction progam which fully prepares mothers physically, mentally and spiritually for birth. Through self-hypnosis, visualizations, and affirmations moms learn to release fear and build a positive expectancy for birthing. Moms also learn relaxation and intuitive breathing techniques which work with her birthing muscles to assist the labor and birthing process. HOW IT WORKS If a woman's mind is worry free and expecting a smooth easy birth, then her body will produce endorphins, the body's natural relaxation and pain blocker hormones. In this relaxed state in body and mind, her uterine muscles work efficiently and smoothly allowing the natural birthing process to proceed unimpeded. She may experience tightening or pressure, but not severe pain. If however, a woman's mind is fearful and filled with negative expectation, then her body will produce stress hormones which constrict her uterine muscles, creating pain. The fear-tension-pain syndrome sets in. Her muscles will tighten up, she will experience increased pain and tension, and the natural birthing process may stall. Often medical procedures will be prescribe such as chemical induction and surgery. THE ROLE OF HYPNOSIS. Hypnosis simply means a deeply relaxed state in mind and body. HYPNOSIS IS SELF-HYPNOSIS. An individual enters into hypnosis willingly. HYPNOSIS IS GOAL-ORIENTED. The subconscious mind contains a wealth of stored thoughts, memories, and experiences both positive and negative. The goal of Hypnosis is to release negative thoughts and fears, which are embedded in the subconscious, and to replace them with new positive beliefs about ourselves. To accomplish this positive change, we enter into hypnosis in order to relax the conscious mind so that we can gain access to the subconscious. HYPNOSIS IS LIKE A ZOOM LENS. Just as a camera zoom lens focuses in on a particular focal point. Hypnosis assists a person to tune out distractions, allowing us to focus on a particular thought.
