Dear Governor Hochul,

I am writing to urge you to sign into law A.9018 (Bronson) which adds licensed creative arts therapists to the state’s Medicaid Provider List to provide psychotherapy.

As you know, this bill DOES NOT add additional services to Medicaid or additional costs. It simply improves access to mental health care for our state’s most vulnerable population - especially our children - to help address New York’s mental health crisis.

This bill will allow more New Yorkers to access crucial mental healthcare services and I urge you to sign it into law today.

The art of sewing! 🧵

It’s an incredibly soothing and rhythmic activity. Art therapist often use sewing, crocheting, knitting, weaving and needle point as therapeutic interventions. Sewing can provide a grounding/anchoring feeling. when paired with talk therapy, it allows the person to lower their defenses and become more willing to share.
