Clinical Director Amanda Beckerman, MSEd, BCBA, LBA (NY/GA) led an incredible collaboration on “Reinforcement Schedules: Making Data-Based Decisions and Using Phase Changes in Practice.”

This wasn’t about reviewing schedules, it was a discussion about how strong clinicians think and respond in real time.

We dove into:
• Identifying when data actually supports a schedule shift
• Using phase changes with intention instead of reaction
• Strengthening programming to be measurable, systematic, and clinically sound
• Bridging the gap between reinforcement theory and what truly works in session

At the end of the day clinical excellence isn’t about following a plan it’s about knowing when to change it.

We're grateful to collaborate with BCBAs who are committed to raising the bar!

ABA therapy can look different for toddlers compared to school-age kids, and that’s a good thing. The goals, teaching style, and daily routines shift as kids grow, so support should match their stage of development.

Read our blog to learn what changes and what stays the same: https://unitedcareaba.com/aba-therapy-toddlers-vs-school-age/

Autism Awareness Month has been around for decades, and while awareness is an important starting point, it is not the finish line. Acceptance is.

Awareness knows autism exists, but acceptance understands what it means for the individual in front of you.

Awareness tolerates differences, while acceptance embraces them.

Awareness asks "what is wrong?" while acceptance asks "what do you need?"

Awareness is a month. Acceptance is a practice you show up for every single day, in your home, your classroom, your workplace, and your community.

This April we are not just raising awareness. We are committed to building a community where every autistic individual feels genuinely seen, valued, and included for exactly who they are.

What does autism acceptance look like in your everyday life? Share it in the comments.

This week’s ABA Word of the Week is: Latency.

Latency simply means the delay between a cue and a response. In other words, how long it takes after an instruction, request, or situation for a behavior to happen.

Example: If you say “come here” and it takes 10 seconds for the learner to move, that 10 seconds is latency.

Autism Acceptance Month is a great time to clear up some of the most common misconceptions about autism.

Here are a few myths worth setting straight.

Myth: Autism is caused by vaccines.
Fact: This has been thoroughly and repeatedly debunked. There is no scientific evidence linking vaccines to autism.

Myth: Autistic people lack empathy.
Fact: Autistic individuals experience empathy deeply. They may express it differently, but that is not the same as not feeling it.

Myth: Autism only affects children.
Fact: Autism is a lifelong neurological difference. Autistic children grow into autistic adults who deserve the same access to support, inclusion, and community.

Myth: All autistic people have the same experience.
Fact: Autism is a spectrum, meaning every individual has their own unique strengths, challenges, and way of experiencing the world. There is no single autism story.

Myth: Autistic people cannot live fulfilling, independent lives.
Fact: With the right support and genuine inclusion, autistic individuals thrive in relationships, careers, and communities every single day.

Understanding autism starts with unlearning what we thought we knew. Share this and spread the awareness this April!

At United Care ABA, we’re proud to highlight Tehilla Mezei-Sitzer, our Lead BCBA who supports our Quality Assurance team.

Tehilla plays a key role in reviewing reports and helping ensure the care we provide stays consistent, thoughtful, and aligned with the high standards we hold ourselves to. She cares deeply about doing this work the right way, and she brings a collaborative mindset that strengthens both our clinicians and the families we serve.

One of her favorite parts of the job is seeing a child gain a new skill for the first time, especially when it supports independence or communication. Those moments are a big reminder of why strong clinical support matter.

Outside of work, Tehilla is a full-time mom who loves spending meaningful time with her family.

We’re grateful to have you on the United Care team, Tehilla!

Autism acceptance starts with understanding, and understanding starts with showing up willing to learn.

If you are looking for ways to practice and promote acceptance this month and beyond, here are a few resources worth bookmarking.

> The Autistic Self Advocacy Network (autisticadvocacy.org) is run by and for autistic people and offers a wealth of perspectives, tools, and information directly from the community.
> The Arc (thearc.org) provides advocacy resources, policy updates, and support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
> The Color of Autism Foundation (www.thecolorofautism.org) focuses specifically on supporting Black families affected by autism, providing culturally responsive resources and advocacy.
Autism Speaks (autismspeaks.org) offers a wide range of resources for families including toolkits, guides, and information on navigating services and support.

Saving these resources is a great first step. Sharing them with someone who needs them is even better.

What is a resource that has made a real difference for your family? Drop it in the comments so we can keep building this list together.
