This Christmas, Tampa General Hospital was proud to recognize our local fire stations and first responders who continue to serve our community around the clock. Caring for everyone, every day is a core value at Tampa General Hospital—and working through the holidays, often away from family and loved ones, is a powerful example of that commitment in action.

As a small gesture of appreciation, our hospital leadership delivered desserts to local fire stations to thank them for their service, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication to our community.

We’re grateful for the partnership and commitment of our first responders, today and throughout the year.

While many spent the holidays at home, members of our team at TGH Brooksville & TGH Spring Hill were here, caring for patients and families who needed us on Christmas Day. Across the hospital, team members showed up with the same compassion, focus and dedication they bring to their work every day, whether at the bedside, supporting loved ones or keeping operations running smoothly behind the scenes.

Hospital leadership spent part of the day rounding throughout the hospital to personally thank team members working the holiday and share a small gesture of appreciation. It was a simple moment of gratitude and recognition for the hard work happening across the hospital.

It was a reminder that while the holidays may look different for those on shift, our commitment to care never changes. Merry Christmas from all of us at TGH Brooksville & TGH Spring Hill! 🎄💙

Tampa General Hospital was proud to take part in the Family Sensory Christmas Celebration in downtown Brooksville, a wonderful event organized by Brooksville Main Street. We were especially grateful to be placed alongside our partners at Hernando County Fire Rescue, highlighting the strong collaboration we share in caring for our community. 💙🚑

The evening was filled with connection, inclusion, and holiday spirit as we engaged with families and supported an event thoughtfully designed for children of all abilities. Moments like these reflect our commitment to caring for everyone, every day—both inside and outside the hospital walls. Thank you to Brooksville Main Street for creating such a meaningful experience and to everyone who stopped by to visit our booth!

On December 12, TGH team members had the opportunity to join Hernando County Fire Rescue for their annual Shop with a Hero event. Together, we shopped for Christmas presents for 23 foster children in our community, helping ensure each child had something special to open this holiday season.

This event reflects the heart of HCFR’s commitment to service and highlights the strong partnership we share in supporting some of our most vulnerable families. We’re grateful to stand alongside our first responders in efforts that extend care beyond the hospital walls and into the community. 💙

In health care, academic medicine isn’t defined by beds or buildings—it’s how many physicians you train, how many specialties you advance, how much groundbreaking research you conduct, and how deeply you define the future of medicine.

This past Saturday, our teams from TGH Brooksville & TGH Spring Hill proudly participated in the 51st Annual Brooksville Kiwanis Christmas Parade for the very first time!

Marching through downtown Brooksville, we were honored to celebrate the theme “Lighting the Way to Learning” and showcase our partnership with USF Health Morsani College of Medicine, all while connecting with the community we’re privileged to serve every day.

We’re proud to share a groundbreaking milestone at TGH Spring Hill! Our team successfully completed the first Aveir™ atrial leadless pacemaker implantation in Hernando County.

What does that mean? This tiny device helps keep your heart beating regularly, without the traditional wires or surgical pocket. We’ve already been offering the ventricular leadless pacemaker, and now with the atrial option, we can help even more patients with advanced heart rhythm needs. We’re proud to bring cutting-edge care close to home, so you don’t have to travel far for the best treatment.

This holiday season, we’re sharing a story that reflects the spirit of compassion, partnership and hope that guides our work year round.

Bobbie Rodriguez’s journey brought him face to face with cancer, homelessness and uncertainty. A chance encounter connected him with Amber Martin, Senior Director of Case Management at TGH, who helped get him life-changing surgery performed by Dr. Matthew Mifsud, expert surgical oncologist with TGH and USF Health-University of South Florida.

Together with our partners at The Salvation Army USA, Tampa General Hospital helped surround Bobbie with medical care, housing and resources at a critical moment. Stories like this remind us what’s possible when a community comes together to help those in need. 💙
